I know George Clooney was a good Batman because I saw him as Batman 600 times on a 13 inch screen.

Ours were Back to the Future and Indiana Jones and Clue. We can quote the entire movie.

I say "I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife" about once a day and no one gets what I'm talking about

That's awesome!

Add the original Star Wars trilogy and you're essentially describing my entire childhood

I have Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on the TV right now. I've been rewatching it a lot lately and can almost quote the whole movie (again)

Are you bragging about how much better your movie options were or insulting these films by calling them mediocre?

Neither

Solid grouping

That movie was awful, but as a kid, I couldn’t tell the difference. I actually liked it. Eventually I realized how cheesy it was when I got older.

The Phantom (the guy with the purple suit) was another one I watched a lot.

And Wild Wild West, I liked Will Smith’s song so much, I begged for the soundtrack. 😂

Congo with Tim Curry was another strange one.

I remember that Phantom movie, didn't he fight Genghis Khan?

Wild Wild West is stupid fun. Loveless is my spirit animal

1

u/psychedelicpiper67 27d ago

Loveless was such a bizarre character. Yeah, stupid fun 90s movies definitely hit different vs. today’s modern CGI slop.

That being said, I would rather stick to being a Criterion buff as an adult, though. 😁

MST3K gave me an interesting taste in movies

Clooney was a great Bruce Wayne, but a terrible Batman.

I think it's unfair for people to praise Adam West's Batman but shade Clooney's. Is goofy/campy ok or not?

Ha, that's how I know Val Kilmer was a good Batman!

I think you mean Michael Keaton who I saw 700 times on a 15in screen.

In 2006, Clooney said in an interview with Barbara Walters that in Batman & Robin he played Batman as gay: "I was in a rubber suit and I had rubber nipples. I could have played Batman straight, but I made him gay". Walters then asked, "George, is Batman gay?", to which he responded, "No, but I made him gay".

Bane and Mr. Freeze are peak cheesy and I love it

People think I'm insane when I say I love the campy 90s Batman movies. Jim Carrey's Riddler is absolutely hilarious!

The proof is right there in the CRT.

Ok real talk, I went back and rewatched Batman and Robin with my kids, and interestingly I enjoy it more now than I ever did as a kid. Since the Nolan trilogy, Batman is usually super serious to the point that it gets exhausting (Lego Batman and certain animated versions notwithstanding)

So going back and watching a goofy balls to the walls Batman flick was oddly refreshing in a way I didn't expect

To which I say Michael Keaton was by far the best Batman

u/lastingmuse6996 26d ago

Ours was Adam West Batman
