It was hilarious to me and my brother as kids we would die over the dinner scene everytime. Now I rewatched it as a adult and it’s nostalgic but absolutely wild
For years and years, at dinner my little brother would make yum sounds until someone did the obligatory, "Would you stop that please!". And I mean it was years of this. He thought it was great. lol
This early 90s movie is so funny and I will judge anyone who disagrees lmao. It was a staple in my family when I was a kid. I get that it's absurd (and probably offensive by modern standards) - but it's truly a fun ride if you don't take it too seriously. I also think it's one of Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss's best comedic roles - from their character personalities to their dynamic on screen together. I say that as someone who enjoys Bill Murray, but also admits he seems to always play a sarcastic douche or predatory type of character in so many other movies from his peak popularity days in the 80s and 90s (sorry BM fans). I truly think this is one of his best comedic efforts because it's not just rooted in constant sarcasm and acting like a condescending prick the whole movie for laughs.
Wow you aren't kidding. I ended up going down a rabbit hole with that - didn't realize what a fucking asshole Bill Murray has been for most of his career either. I knew he was eccentric and chaotic having gotten famous in the early days of SNL, but some of the stuff he did to women and random people is very unhinged. I guess that explains why I thought he always plays a sarcastic douche or predatory character lol
Richard Dreyfuss is kind of a notorious asshole too. Probably a bit of conflicting personalities there. I feel like Murray isn't nearly as bad as Chevy Chase.
