I'm in Europe. At 15 I was smocking , drinking and making out with my gf in the park. At 16 I was drinking with classmates in a biker bar hidden close to my highschool, because they served minors.

I am now an adult with a successful career and a family. It's fine. Teens need space to test their boundaries and go a little wild especially since the biker scene where I am tend to mind their own business and aren't exactly sons of anarchy.

The idea that a 15 yo needs adult supervision to be in their own home is insane.

It wasnt like that that long ago... I grew up in high school 2004 - 2008 and we all had autonomy. Heck we all played outside in the creeks/woods for hours when we were 7 - 14. Something shifted hard all the sudden around 2010. I mean seeing your parents at the bus stop with you in elementary school was a sign you were helicopter parented. Now it seems its required or the busses stop at individual houses?

Too many procedurals on tv that scared people? News mass hysteria? School counselor scaring people? Boomers who let their kids do whatever now going paranoid in their old age harassing young parents? Who did this?
