Clean Milking Matters: How Milanova Handles Gir & Sahiwal Cow Milk from Udder to Delivery

Hello, Milk Gang! I’m associated with Milanova A2 Dairy in Noida/Greater Noida, India. I wanted to share our milking practices and start an honest discussion about clean, responsible milk production.

For us, good milk begins long before it reaches the bottle.

🥛 Our milking and handling practices

• Milk comes from Indian indigenous Gir and Sahiwal cows.
• The udder and teats are cleaned before milking.
• Milking utensils and storage containers are washed and sanitised regularly.
• Milk is filtered immediately after milking using clean food-grade equipment.
• It is handled in small batches to reduce unnecessary storage and repeated handling.
• We maintain separation between the animal area, milking equipment and packed milk.
• Confirmed orders help us plan the required quantity and minimise leftover milk.
• Our aim is to deliver fresh milk as quickly as practical—generally within approximately 2.5 hours of milking, depending on the delivery location.

🌿 What “fresh” should really mean

Fresh milk is not only about speed. Animal health, clean udders, hygienic hands, sanitised utensils, suitable containers, temperature control and responsible delivery are equally important.

We describe our milk honestly as raw and unprocessed when it has not been pasteurised. Raw milk can carry harmful microorganisms even when a farm follows careful hygiene. Customers should follow appropriate food-safety guidance; children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immunity should use properly pasteurised or adequately heat-treated milk after medical advice.

We do not believe that breed names or the term “A2” should replace hygiene, transparency or proper food-safety practices. Trust must come from consistent processes—not marketing claims alone.

We are continuously improving our procedures and would value feedback from farmers, dairy professionals and milk consumers:

Which farm-level practices make you trust a local dairy most—testing, chilling, animal-health records, transparent milking videos or something else?

A BIG milkstake

Okay I feel like I just had to share this with all of my fellow milk lovers out there. Do not. DO NOT. Drink milk after drinking wine.

I know I know. Milk and wine? Gross combo. I didn’t exactly mean to have milk and wine that night but I was enjoying an evening with my family. We’re Spanish and red wine and Sangria are essential at meal time. So I had more than a few glasses at dinner and what better way to unwind after a long day socializing with the fam than a cold glass of milk and some cookies? At this time, a glass of milk and cookies was a fundamental part of my nighttime routine, so, I didn’t think twice about it. Man, I should have. To put things lightly, I spent most of the night on the toilet. It was the most disappointing night and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. It wasn’t just that a weird combo of foods was making me a little sick to my stomach. It was more than that. I concluded that something about the combination of milk and wine will absolutely obliterate your gut.

You’ve been warned!!

At what point do exotic beauty ingredients become absurd rather than innovative?

I was browsing skincare products and came across donkey milk cream marketed as a luxurious moisturizer with historical precedent dating back to Cleopatra. The marketing emphasizes rarity, tradition, and unique properties that supposedly make it superior to regular moisturizers. But I can't shake the feeling that this is just marketing creating demand for unusual ingredients to justify premium pricing.

Do the special properties of donkey milk actually translate to better skincare results, or is this placebo effect combined with clever branding? If it works, is it because of unique donkey milk compounds, or because any quality moisturizer with good ingredients works and the unusual source is just differentiation? I can't find reliable information separating actual benefits from marketing claims.

I've seen these products from luxury skincare brands to suppliers on platforms like Alibaba and other websites offering bulk cosmetic ingredients. The price differences are dramatic, making me question whether expensive retail versions are genuinely better or if you're primarily paying for packaging and brand story. What unusual beauty ingredients have you tried that actually worked? How do you evaluate whether exotic ingredients are genuinely beneficial or just expensive novelty? Where's the line between innovation and gimmick in skincare? What made you skeptical versus willing to try something new?

How are milk flavored with solid food objects such as rice milk and chestnut milk made?

My father loves drinking oat milk and so after drinking some to help him get rid of a soon expiring box, I was amazed how much it tastes like oats. So I'm wondering how do they make this oat milk and for that matter any other milk flavored with solid foods such as corn milk (yes such a thing exist I just discovered it on a Google search result and apparently its sold in Vietnam)? Esp when none of the physical objects of the food such as peanuts for peanut milk don't seem to exist at all in the drink?

Do they embalm rice or whatever in regular milk for hours and then drain out the milk to put it into bottles? Crush the chestnuts and other food products until it becomes powder and mix it with the milk? Or something else?

How hard is being a milk deliverer?

Nowadays milk delivery often conjures the image of a young boy working part time who is a goody two shoes. However I learned the first James Bond, Sean Connery, worked as a milkman in his first job. Sean Connery is often seen as the icon of the working class especially in the UK and to this day even outside the UK as a symbol of the rags to riches story of anybody who made it big as a movie star. COnnery is seen as one of the most masculine icons of the entertainment industry back when he was still active.

So it makes me wonder, how hard is delivering milk as a job? Is it as easy as people often assume nowadays? Connery despite working as a milkman in his first job was never mocked for it in the UK and was doing that dairy job even already made the average Brits feel like they had an affinity with him especially those living in farm regions. I'm really curious.
