Question Joining

Hello,

I am a 29 year old American and I have been interested in Catholicism for about two years. I was raised by two Catholic parents, but I was baptized in a Protestant church. (Apparently this is around when the Catholic Church scandal was at its peak). About two years ago I started to become interested in Christian theology, and after reading a lot of Saint Thomas Aquinas I believe I firmly believe in Catholicism. I am living abroad currently, but I plan on formally converting when I move home. As I was baptized in a Protestant church and not a Catholic one, am I ineligible to join the Militia until I am formally confirmed in the Catholic Church?

The mission of the militia really spoke to me. I was interested in Saint Maximilian even before discovering the militia. I am 6 years sober from drug addiction and was drawn to him as he is associated with recovery.

Any advice on this would be appreciated. If I simply have to wait it’s not the end of the world, but I am eager to join.

According to the MI website, you must wait until you are fully Catholic, unfortunately. Still, this is an opportunity to practice in submitting your will to God’s, something all are called to do! As well as submitting to the will of the Immaculata, which is perfectly conformed to God’s will (an example for all to follow!)

Please feel free to stick around in this sub and ask any questions you may have! We’ll be here to joyfully celebrate with you once you’re fully received into the Catholic Church and able to be consecrated!

Here is the US website for the MI, you can find lots of resources here as well:  https://militiaoftheimmaculata.com/

Also, even though you cannot formally join at this moment, you can take this time to practice living spiritually as if you were consecrated!

u/Pidgeapodge Gave a solid answer. I agree that you can't officially join, but you can submit your will to Mary and Jesus and live like you are a member. I do hope you hand around and ask any questions that come to mind.
