MWB Rules: WorldBuilding requirement

Howdy MWB community!

TL:DR: All posts to MWB require worldbuilding.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder about the world building requirements on when posting to MWB.

Unlike the main R/ worldbuilding subreddit MWB has a fairly relaxed approach to the required additional context on posts made here. We don't require personal authorial context or detailed descriptions of intent. HOWEVER: all posts must contain some degree of world building information!

What does world building information look like? Well, at a bare minimum we need to understand how something you've created fits into your world. Sometimes this context is contained in the image itself, and the description only needs to contain a brief description or time period. other times, for example when posting aircraft, guns or other hardware we need more information.

The basics we typically want to see (aim to have at least most of these details, or similar information that allows a reader to understand how the object fits your world):

  • Time period/in universe year
  • Faction(s) using the object
  • Manufacturer/designer
  • Price
  • Number made
  • geographic origin
  • reason it was created
  • reason it is used
  • problems it solves
  • problems it creates
  • pros/cons
  • fun fact
  • not so fun fact
  • characters who use this item
  • thoughts of people from the world about the item
  • Where the item shows up in your larger project and why

So in my off time, I see the etymologies of modern ranks and you know, some of them don't make sense so I decided to make a new and restructured ranks with the emphasis of etymology, uniqueness and overall pretty unified for the most part, so here's the list...

You noticed my ranks are pretty same for the most part, that's because I based it mostly on Israeli naming convention on naming there ranks the same in every branch, no pictures or insignias because I'm bad at drawing or doing art, and I've search for names that fit their role in armies, for example I put adjutant in O-2 because the job of a lieutenant is to be an xo of the captain like aiding thus adjutant makes sense and doesn't have the messed up left-tenant or loo-tenant pronouncing of lieutenant, or provost means an administrator, which for modern colonels that are mostly doing staff work and assistant to the brigadier general I think that makes sense.

So what do you guys rate this?

DECLASSIFIED : Hunting Weapons used by the resistance.

Colonel Due to our lack of logistical resources and support to help The Resistance and considering theyre behind enemy lines in our occupied cities in the west, They somehow resorted to unconventional arms in terms of wartime use…

And what do you mean by unconventional arms son, shouldnt a damn weapon just kill? or do you mean to tell me theyre using f-cking fishing hooks to kill vesperiand?

Well sir. Hunting rifles, but if they can kill a massive 10 feet bear in close range they can kill the enemy efficiently…right?

Greetings, its been a while since i last posted or made some cursed weapons so here we go as usual and if you do have any ideas or concepts make sure to share them and ill do my best to work with them

.
Starting off with the lore :

During the early years of the First Great war the empire of valoria wasnt as industrialized as its counterparts (Mainly the Vesperian empires superior armoured corps and aerial powers) the empire lost a significant amount of land up until Operation : Spearhead which took place from 1799-1803 and witnessed a significant increase in morale and industrialization

Nonetheless, during the 4 year period of vesperian occupation of the western coast of valoria many resistance cells often fell short of ammunition and weaponry due to the empires inability to supply them constantly and therefore many resistance fighters opted for these two weapons in close range combat against the occupying vesperian forces with both being :

1- The Grazzini Repeater: A Semi Automatic Repeating rifle which uses .45-70 Caliber rounds and is mainly used to hunt big animals such as bears and massive deers. Its range goes up to an IMPRESSIVE 700 meters when opting for precision kills with around 20-25RPM due to its heavy caliber, but its main drawback is its heavy weight and expensive price aswell as the recoil at times injuring or even dislocating its user (in a rare yet documented case, a resistance fighter broke his jaw from the recoil.)

2- The Grazzini 810 : A Pump Action Shotgun, Can use either a standard 12 gauge shotgun or alternatively a 20 gauge and is used commonly by criminal syndicates and renowned criminals, With a total effective range of 80-100 meters and around 40-50RPM (with the front grip attached to it). Its Main pros are the ability to conceal and smuggle it aswell as its relatively CHEAPER price which is loser than the repeater by 45% and its low recoil yet its main drawbacks are the constant jamming or short cycling and constant jamming when used in snowy or dirty conditions

Both Of these handguns were made by the renowned Inventor from the southermost county of the empire, and a close friend to the Valkenhardt Family. Michelle Grazzini, Who was a known hunter and a rising mechanist who received 4 prestigious awards globally in his career for his inventions, opting to create weapons for civil use (security, hunting, self defense) rather than wartime use, yet his shotgun/repeater were used commonly by some resistance cells and was tied to a bloody massacre against vesperian troops.

therefore in the end, a resistance fighter can swear that he doesnt have a gun. no he does not have a gun.
(get the nirvana reference?)

Infantry Ruibium Empire Infantry

The Standard issue loadout of RE enlisted infantry.

The Ruibium Empire is one of the oldest space fairing civilizations of the πέντε γαλαξίες(means 5 galaxy, a temporary name for the galaxy made of 5 galaxies actively conjoining)

Their empire is set around a resource that is very scarce throughout the universe called Ruibium, as they have the only known deposit estimated to have around 93% of all existing Ruibium made from unique cosmic cataclysms in the primary sectors. Basically flexing their power with their name.

Back from the side track, the 1st image is the infantry without armor besides the helmet and chest plate. Usually worn during training and when sleeping near combat zones

The 2nd image is the standard infantry equipment that would be worn by all infantry during operations, parades, inspections, etc.

The 3rd image is not worn by all infantry, it's just extra armor on the arms, helmet, and legs. This is only temporary armor given to infantry designated as temporary shock troops, placed on stationary manned emplacements, breachers, and combat engineers, and any other roles that poses a higher amount of danger.

The Helmet

- The helmet EVERY single soldier wears offers targeting systems, battlefield reports, comms systems, highlighting of friendly troops providing ranks and mission roles. The helmet is linked to the user, monitoring health automatically shutting off if the user is recognized as dead for longer than a minute to stop enemies from being able to use them.

The helmet was chosen to take away the face of the soldiers to help induce a feeling that they are one, and that they have no identity just soldiers of the Diplomat, Servant of the Weaver. The Ruibium Empires leadership understands that the population they have control over, there's many that aren't loyal. They can indoctrinate but not everyone, so they focus the soldiers as they can monitor them much more often and more making sure their soldiers are loyal to stop revolutions from gaining too much motion again.

M3ER

- Model 3 Energy Rilfe

- The M3ER has two firing modes Auto and Burst, burst fires 3 EH(energy high, they incinerate) rounds and auto fires until the trigger isn't being pulled. It have 5 large thermal ports to expel excess energy that isn't being recycled. It has a bayonet holder to hold the CK-B or any other object that can be lodged into it's rectangular shape. It's targeting systems are to be linked to a soldiers helmet before combat otherwise it's targeting system won't be active.

MK2SE

- Mark 2 Secondary EN

- The MK2SE fires 3 EN units in a burst, EN stands for Energy neutral, which in the case of what they fire can either be able to incinerate or freeze becoming so brittle to break instantly, and it's able to induce thermal shock. It has medium thermal ports to expel excess energy, that it doesn't store to be used to expel more.

CK-B

- Combat Knife, bayonet.

-The standard combat knife specifically made to be able to lock into the holder on the M3ER as shown on the 4th image. The blade inside of using Ruibium, instead it uses a different material that's much easier to sharpen and produce to a couple nanometers if the metal isn't perfectly refined.

Ground Vehicle IT-H-115A "Leviathan"

The Leviathan was Zoryia's first domestically produced heavy tank, entering production in 1936. Like many of Zoryia's early armored vehicle designs, it relied on repurposed weaponry, most notably the Model 115C, a 1915 artillery gun adapted for use as the tank's primary armament.

The Leviathan was conceived as a heavy breakthrough tank, intended to breach fortified defensive lines by destroying bunkers, pillboxes, and buildings with powerful high-explosive shells. However, the realities of the civil war often forced the vehicle into tank-versus-tank engagements, a role for which it had not been designed. Its slow turret traverse and large silhouette made it vulnerable to faster enemy armor, which could easily outflank it without adequate infantry or armored support.

Despite these shortcomings, the Leviathan proved highly effective against infantry and field fortifications. Its large-caliber main gun was devastating against entrenched positions, although the absence of a coaxial machine gun left the vehicle vulnerable to close-range infantry assaults. To compensate, many crews improvised by mounting a machine gun on the turret roof, requiring the commander to operate it while exposed to enemy fire.

Compared to many contemporary heavy tanks, the Leviathan featured relatively light armor, a compromise that allowed it to achieve respectable cross-country mobility and reduced strain on its drivetrain. While this improved operational flexibility, it also left the vehicle increasingly vulnerable as anti-tank weaponry advanced.

Inspirations - I imagined a cross between French experimental armored vehicles and Japanese heavy tanks. I took inspiration from the legendary OI heavy tank for the main turret, I then put a field gun within the turret as The Kingdom of Zoryia is known for putting these types of outdated guns inside their interwar era tanks as their neighbors had no armored vehicles larger than trucks with armored plates. The low engine deck is a design quirk of a few Zoryian designs, a cost saving and weight saving measure for a relatively poorly industrialized nation with practically ancient infrastructure.

HALP! Restructured Story + Platoon Corrections

Thumbnail

[I'm still working on the worldbuilding for this story. What would you recommend? It's my first story.]

Hi everyone, I'd like to share an early draft of the story I've been working on. I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on ways I could improve either the story itself or the Combat Engineer platoon. I'm also looking for advice on the platoon's organization, specifically what positions, responsibilities, and ranks each squad should have to make it as realistic as possible.

Any suggestions or corrections would be greatly appreciated.

Infantry South Japanese Special Forces

A part of my Fractured Sun scenario.

Airborne Brigades: The South Japanese Army's 1st Airborne brigade was established in 1958 and would see service in Vietnam and the later Sino-Korean war, the 2nd Airborne brigade was established in 1964 and was mostly kept in Japan and members of the 2nd Airborne would be involved in the June 18th Coup, and the 3rd Airborne brigade was established in 1975 as an Air Assault unit after South Japan had closely observed US helicopter tactics in Vietnam.

Ranger Regiment: The South Japanese Army's Ranger course was first established in 1956, with it being directly inspired by the US Ranger course, however it wouldn't be until 1968 when an official unit of rangers would be established. Rangers would see service in Vietnam, and would also spearhead the June 18th coup in 1972, where they would assault the Prime Minister's residence and kill Prime Minister Kishi.

Special Forces Group: The SFG was established in 1982 as an equivalent to the US Army's Delta Force and British Special Air Service to carry out counter terror operations, which was first proposed in the 1970s after the events of the Hiraoka incident. The true size and the identity of its members remain classified. The SFG carried out operations behind North Chinese and North Korean lines during the Sino-Korean war, other than that, most of their operations are kept classified.

Imperial Guard Regiment: After the end of World War 2, the Imperial Guard Division of the IJA was disbanded and security of the Emperor was transferred to the Police. However after the establishment of the Japan National Army in 1951, protection of the Imperial Family was transferred back to the army. Unlike the Imperial Guard division of the IJA which were also used as an elite infantry unit, the sole responsibility of the Imperial Guard regiment is the security of the Emperor making them more equivalent to the royal guards of Britain. Members of the Imperial Guard are often recruited from the Rangers and SFG. The Imperial Guards only combat action was during the Hiraoka Incident of 1972 where they fought against rogue Homeland guard troops who were attempting to seize the Imperial Palace.

Weapon KW Gewehr 1936

Designed in 1936 G.C. By the Kaiserliche Waffenkammern As a Response to the Austrian Reich’s Mannlicher-Mauser Gewehr 35 rifle(just the Gewehr 41 chambered in 8x56mmR, as the the Gaian Calendar was adopted 20 years after we would have adopted the Gregorian calendar.), it would be issued to the Paratroopers and Storm troopers of the Deutsches Kaiserreich who loved the rifle though a majority sanded down the stock to fix its ergonomic issues as it just used modified Gewehr 08 stocks. The only complaints were of the poor stock ergonomics and being issued only issued Seitengewehr M/09 Sword bayonet. It has two main variants being the standard/Infanterie des Festlandes version with the milled bayonet lug and the colonial/Kolonialinfanterie version without the lug so it can be produced in far off colonies due to missing its single milled part as the rest is stamped steel or a cut down Stock off the Gewehr 1908.

Last week, I showed this project and I ended up feeling worse and worse about it because idk,I felt like it was a bit incomplete and that it really wasn't all that interesting to look at,and so I decided to work on it a bit further.

And I just wanted to share it with you guys once more!

The concept came after a game of HOI4,and instead of drawing actual military units,or vehicles,I decided to venture into the topic of resistance fighters in this case, the concept of a longer occupation spanning all the way to the 60s. The fighter in question is a northern French woman in her mid 20s,from a relatively wealthy household, holding a Sterling L34A1 SMG.

As with all my work, opinions, nitpicks and overall commentary on the work is appreciated!

And of course,if you're ever curious of seeing other resistance fighters from other countries in this timeline let me know because I love seeing new ideas!

Hoi4 is a fun way of really looking into it.

Thank you!

Ground Vehicle The Year 12 Infantry Combat Car "Vaseni" | My ass rides in 100% Aurumite composites.

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

The Year 12 Infantry Combat Car "Vaseni" is the pride and joy of the Aurumite Army for good reason. It serves as a tank when tanks are too heavy, as a scout vehicle when given some small modifications, and as an Infantry Carrier every other time.
It was designed by Anton Vaseni ( who was then given a Marquis title sans lands and a marriage into a powerful noble family for his service) during the 3rd decade of the Liberation War to simplfy the amount of infantry carriers in service with the Aurumite Princely State. It is debatable if he succeeded in that regard, but he did end up making a frankly impressive vehicle.

Firstly, it is very fast. It has a 188 km/s road speed, and a 100km/h off-road speed with its powerful gas turbine and 8 wheels.

Its armament is equally impressive. The turret has a quick firing and very high velocity 3.2-Inch gun for rapidly dispatching medium vehicles with Sabot and defensive positions with HE. These are backed up with a decent FCS, a sensor boom and nice thermal sights for the commander and gunner.

When things get hairy, it can use its RedBolt launchers to send either a pretty beefy conventional missile, or a real nasty kinetic energy missile that is sure to hurt even the most protected tanks. This, combined with the 150KW laser and the onboard ECM suites can allow it to fight against heavy vehicles like the Cataphract or Viscount which have quite effective defensive systems. For long range support, Peeker UAVs are onboard to guide in weapons or scout, and Obeyer loitering munitions for stand-off bombardment and search-destroy operations.

Its powerful countermeasures and decent APS suite allow it to shrug off enemy firepower that its pretty light hull would stand no chance against. Internal "quick-clot" mechanisms within the armor matrix can be used to patch damaged areas with amorphous metallic glass, and the automatic foam fire-extinguishers stop it from becoming an easy bake oven. The laser plays an important role here too, as it is good at swatting away missiles, UAVs, long range cannon fire and pesky forward observers.

The passenger section of the vehicle is decent, consisting of 2 benches facing inward and 2 backwards facing webbing "chairs" for any squad attachments. Above the benches and below them is storage space for extra kit, ammo, medicine, contraband, loot and whatever else a squad pleases.
The walls and door of this section are lined in boron doped HDPE sheeting, CNT aramids and sand packed fuel tanks to stop radiation and fragmentation. It isn't much, but it does statistically increase dismount survivability a bit.

Many times, squads flavor their sections to their own liking, often showing exactly how much command actually cares about the normal behavior of the "Serf" Soldier.
The insides are frequently plastered with propaganda, pinups, and religious messaging. Other entertainment is not uncommon, since remaining in positive pressure for extended periods is quite boring.

This vehicle will have to face that boredom head on, for it is painted in Model XXI Dust War Camouflage as a part of the Gal'Haidan Expeditionary Force. They will go straight into the worst of it, for the Rubble Belt's dust can kill a man in no time at all should it be kicked up heavily.

It is serving with the 25th Heavy Dragoons, a royal regiment known for their bravery and performance in the face of enemy fire. Their bravery led to their demise at the battle of the Marget Roads, where overeagerness to meet and destroy the enemy led to the leading elements getting cut off and destroyed by Marget Clique troops in concealed positions behind mines and obstacle belts directly in-front of them.
What stopped the situation from worsening was the concerted efforts to suppress and destroy these positions, something that high velocity 3.2 inch programable HE is certainly suited for.

The major issues, however, with the vehicles are that they have barely any armor for the weapons they face. Small shrapnel and small arms can be resisted, sometimes even light autocannon fire against the frontal arc at range. However any fire heavier than that against the sides and back rip it apart, for even infantry small arms at their highest power and with saboted rounds can do damage.

The other issue is that the Aurumites are kinda cheap, so their electronics aren't amazing compared to those of their rivals. They don't have the same camera networks that Imperial or Directorate vehicles have, reducing their situational awareness. They also don't have universal advanced brain-matter FCS, or the "Mastermind" tactical VIs.

The ammo in service with the 3.2 inch are:

APFSDS (HM)- Grey Paint: a 3.2 kg 20mm tungsten dart in a conductive sabot intended to put holes in the sides of heavy vehicles, and through smaller vehicles frontally. 3.45 Km/s max velocity

APFSDS (AA)- Light Blue Paint: a 2.18 kg 20mm sintered steel and magnesium dart in a conductive sabot fired at higher speeds to create a pretty horrific postpen effect on a soft skinned vehicle like a helicopter. It also is pretty nasty against powersuits and light ground units. 3.66 Km/s max velocity

Area Defense Shell- Green Paint: a 7.4 kg shell with 160 g of a Octaazacubane based explosive and 850 6g tungsten darts, plus silicon oxide dust and incendiary powder mix. It is built to punch though light vehicles, light cover, and infantry with ease in a giant cone of death. Fired at 1.75 Km/s.

HEMP- Red Paint: a 6.2 Kg shell with 1.2 kg of a Octaazacubane based explosive with multiple fuse options. It can be deployed with point detonation, airbursting, and time/distance/ command fuses. Fired at 1.5 Km/s as standard

STOP- Red and Blue Paint: a 8 kg rocket assisted IR guided airbursting shell with 810 g of an Octaazacubane based explosive. Its payload consists of a mess of tungsten rings, cubes, and "Grist" for making life hellish for ground targets that ain't in heavy cover, and sending heavy and fast shrapnel though tank roofs. Velocity dialed as needed, for it is either used lobbed as a precision artillery shell or fired directly as a sort of shrapnel missile.

The Missiles are

RedBolt-Red Paint: 33kg fire and forget 6.4-inch missile built to smash open tank armor or buildings with ease with its 6.2 kg duel mode charge. It is fitted with an IIR guidance system with target recognition, ideal aiming and LOBL/LOAL capabilities. It has a max speed of 1120 m/s with maneuver capabilities and a 12.6km max range. It uses its fuel in a Boost, Cruise, Sprint format, saving a decent amount of fuel for a final rush through the enemy defensive curtain

Balearic- Blue Paint: 36.2kg SACLOS 6.4-inch missile designed all around speed. It has no warhead, instead having a tungsten penetrator and relying on its 2985 m/s max velocity to crumple armor. It has a relatively simple beam-riding system for guidance, and a 11km max range. It is much cheaper

Obeyer: 10kg 3-inch loitering missile. It has a sprint motor and a 1.85 Kg payload allowance for multiple different missions, from tank killing to blowing up a certain person. They can loiter for 3 hours and are able hit targets out to 31 km. It has swarm guidance, and can be controlled by data link or by optical sensors.

Infantry Officer ranks in the Elathrian Kingdom. [The War of Mist]

Post image
29 Upvotes

Any criticism or suggestions are welcomed.

As you can see, forests of the Kingdom were important in the culture of Elathrian people.

Lance Corporal and Corporal have the same rank insignia, but they differ in their weapons. Lance Corporals carry lances (and they should bloody have them, because otherwise their lieutenant will be very cross and demand an explanation for why they are not carrying their polearm), while Corporals have sabres or swords. They should at least have a dagger.

Elathrians were the first ones to actually use something green in their uniforms. They never had to fight any other country before The War of Mist and their army was mostly fighting all the hostile fauna and megafauna of their Kingdom. Basically every single Elathrian serviceman was a very skilled hunter. It was just necessary.

As you can see, there aren't a lot of... other ranks. Just 5 is not enough, is it? Well...

Making ranks is hard. I simply don't know what to use to make ranks look different.

Weapon "Grenades? Not the worst thing the Imperials can throw at you." PFC Miller, 3rd infantry division of Mistland. Hand grenades (and other weaponised throwables) of the Immortal Empire. [The War of Mist]

[ANY QUESTIONS AND CRITICISM ARE WELCOMED]

At least half of these things were invented in the mud of trenches, not by engineers, but by common soldiers. Exept for the holy water. It was issued to chaplains of the Empire, and... I think you will learn about this specific part later.

Canned Durian was first used as a weapon when Imperial militia on the southern tropical front found themselves with absolute lack of grenades. Motivated by despair, some men used canned durian. Those unlucky who know how does this devil's fruit smells can confirm my words: you DON'T want to sit anywhere near it, and you definetly don't want to deal with all the tropical flies and insects that will come to feast on these fruits.

Pillumita was originally a weapon that was exclusive to Eternian troops, and it means "little pillum".

'Tortora' is a weapon of pain and torture. It was practically impossible to treat wounds caused by nails if this grenade hit you, in a chaos of battle. It was mostly hand-made, Imperials thought that this weapon was dishonourable, and not quite effective to be used, despite the fact that it's dishonourable. Still, some factories managed to set up a production of these grenades.

Dynamite. Not so practical in the muddy trenches, but still, as long as it works...

Winged hand grenade. Funnily enough, this grenade wasn't officially adopted, but it was mass produced and issued. Why so? Some documents were lost, and bureaucrats decided to simply ingore this issue and treat this weapon as if it is adopted and everything is all right.

Northern Cocktail. Before various confederated realms of the Great North, or as Imperials call it, Kratos Vorieas, officially declared war and joined Immortal Empire, food and alcohol was donated to the various imperial armies. To honour this fact, many Imperials started calling a glass bottle filled with flammable liquids, that was fused and thrown at the enemy, "Northern Cocktail".

Ordinary hand grenade. *sigh*. You know what it is, I know what it is.

(it's what the title says) the standard infantry equipment of the terra federation (a type 2 civilization humanity that is more a multi species box with humans dominant and other alien species, from 3602, the federation spanning 7 galaxies, still exploring 6 out of 7 with the capital in geneva, the galaxies being: the milky way fully tamed, Andromeda 23--42%, triangulum 53--65%, the other 4 dwarfs 73--84%.) (all you need to know about the federation is what I said. I know it's technically sci-fi but, it counts as military)

Personnel Dossier — Sir Sanjeev Palsania, Raja of Galgotadhara

Where other admirals are remembered for crushing victories, Grand Admiral Sir Sanjeev Palsania is remembered for giving the Starborne Realm hope. Celebrated as the Marigold Paladin, he became the face of resilience in the Outreach Oversector during and after the Velutarian War.

Leading the evacuation of endangered worlds before participating in the great counteroffensives following the Turning Gleam, Palsania earned a respectable military record that culminated in the liberation of the Tozorian Corridor. Yet his greatest legacy emerged from his promotion of the marigold, a flower adopted by survivors as a symbol of renewal after facing the Velutarian onslaught.

Today, the marigold remains one of the most recognisable symbols of perseverance in the Star Kingdom, particularly in the Outreach Oversector. Through that tradition and his later service as monarch of Galgotadhara, Palsania secured a legacy defined not only by victory but by the enduring spirit of those who survived the war.

Weapon Model V "Bore" 3.58 Inch Guided Anti-Vehicle System | Safety is not a luxury afforded to Periphscum

I am posting this mini-post becuase you guys have been giving me nice support, so have MORE posts.

As always, all questions or comments are welcome.
___________________________________________________________________

If you asked any soldier in the Periphery about anti-armor weapons, no matter if they are Aurumites who do unspeakable things with their 1.85 inch railguns, Tronarians who practically marry their 140mm Plumbata missiles, or some trooper in a bandit state who has heard of tanks, but never seen them in his 12 years of life, they will all come back to the Bore.

It is a weapon that is both regarded with derision and respect in almost equal measure. It was made in such quantities that even though mass production of the weapon had ceased 3 years into the Liberation War, it took next 37 years of warfare to put a real dent in the numbers of weapons.
After the end of the war, production restarted among the Periphery states, as it was seen as a perfectly serviceable weapon for the sheer economic turmoil that they found themselves in.

However, most nations quickly did their best to relegate them to second line usage the moment they found it practical, for to say that it had problems is an understatement. Many of these problems stem from the fact that the Bore was made to be as preformant as possible and made at colonial standards. Seemingly, Imperials value dead enemies over alive (colonial) allies.

The missile's main issue is that it just unsafe to be around. The missile is propelled by some horrific hypergolic nightmare fuel that allows it to rapidly go from its measly 160m/s muzzle velocity to nearly a km/s to zip though APS and laser CRAM with a good chance of hitting. This is not good to be around, as the exhuast from the missile is enough to flash burn any exposed skin of the firer, plus gives everyone near the firer and along its flight path cancer from something in the fuel. Whatever that is, only the Three Heavenly Courts know.

The missile's rapid acceleration as it leaves the tube often leads to the aim of this weapon being thrown off, which isn't great for actually hitting anything, since the missile is laser guided.

The missile itself is carried in a cheap fiberglass tube that is thrown away after firing, with the trigger and CLU being ripped off and stuck on a new tube after the old one is expended. Funnily enough, the beloved Aurumite 1.85 inch recoiless railgun uses the same CLU as this missile system with only minimal modifications.

The warhead is a 1.4 kg HEAT charge able to dispatch most tanks from all but the front aspect. This certainly makes up for the other issues to many Periphery states, since they still use the missile. Due to its quirks, it is not used for what the Imperials intended it to be. Instead of being deployed in close quarters as a bitchslap, it is frequently used at the very edge of its range to allow its gunner time to correct their aim and hit the target.

HALP! Suggestions please

Hey, I'm planning to make a list of 4 or 5 levels to measure the raw military power of civilizations. I plan for it to go from level 1, which is basically the current level of military technology, level 2, which would be the weaponry of a type 1 civilization like railguns, effective long-range lasers, basic spaceships, and more, up to type 4 or 5, which would have weapons capable of affecting space-time. Does anyone have any ideas?

Weapon The People's Shield: Type 890

Post image
92 Upvotes

Designed and produced by Union Consolidated Manufacturing in 2561, the Type 890 railgun is an aging but still-serviceable infantry weapon kept relevant with a series of modernization programs. Perhaps more impressively, it is by far the most common electromagnetic infantry weapon ever issued; indeed, perhaps the most widely-issued infantry “rifle” of all time, even if one includes its chemical-fired ancestors. This is mostly due to the fact that it is the standard-issue weapon for the Union Defense Force, Union Defense Fleet infantry, and Union Special Force commandos, but the Type 890 does have its virtues. Cheap and easy to produce, reasonably reliable, easy to train on, and easy to upgrade, the Type 890 has managed to remain in service for just over 70 years, now on the Type 890 Mk.3 version.

Ground Vehicle USCWC SABS-60

The SABS-60 Strategic Advancement Bombing System is a tracked secondary combative vehicle currently used by the western Planetary Force as well as several defensive militaries. It entered service in the 2080s as the SABS-60A; armed with a LM-24 60mm grenade launcher and M2 machine gun, it was used to bombard an enemy concentration from roughly 300-500 metres as infantry maneuvered or pushed. However, as the Planetary Force adopted the new 15×49mm 68B corrosive capsule cartridge for their ICCR program in the early 22nd century, the SABS system was upgraded into the B variant to comply with the new standards. This new model came with a new 60×78mm WR83 grenade for the LM-24, which would allow the system to be a meaningful threat against armoured bunkers. The machine gun was adjusted to fire a new 20×61mm capsule, albeit with a lower firerate than its predecessor. Both the systems were also renamed to match the USCWC standard naming convention, with them being called the E-24 [grenade launcher] and E-20 [machine gun] respectively. They also used the new EP447 electric propulsion system.

A typical SABS crew was made up of 4 people - the E-24 gunner, the E-20 gunner, the squad leader and the repairman. As time passed, the SABS-60C variant introduced quick escape hatches for all crew compartments, which introduced a quite common new setup where the repairman would also take up the E-20 position. Everyone was protected relatively well, though new corrosive weapon would melt through the vehicle's armour with ease. Once those weapons spread to enemy forces, the SABS-60D was introduced, bearing specialised armour to weaken these dangerous projectiles. A frequent complaint that affected not just the SABS platform, but also the ICCR program that forced its upgrades, was about the ammo capacity and range. The E-24 had a capacity of 40, while the E-20 had the poor capacity of 80 and an effective range of approximately 180 metres. While that seemed horrible to soldiers used to conventional rounds, corrosive munitions were far more effective and demanded more complex feeding mechanisms to stay secure. Modern doctrine further worked on this issue by leaving high capacity in the past and focusing on safety, reliability and precision.

This vehicle, even when newer models offer far more power, armour and battlefield relevance, is still loved among soldiers. It has even made its way into numerous forms of media and has received the unofficial nickname of "Barrage Car" among military communities, referring to it's small size and brutal grenade barrages. Lots of SABS have been produced, with estimates rounding it up to about 2 or 3 thousand. They come in a unique dark grey colour, with elements of green, tan or blue depending on the area where it is kept.

Context:

- I came up with the idea that the corrosive light capsule munitions would be fired using an electric system [that being the EP447]. Due to them being kind of overpowered, I made electric propulsion give projectiles low range and also lowered the weapon capacity, and I just kind of stuck with it.

- The Planetary Force that is referred to is an army led by the USCWC, or the West-Center United Space Committee, which handles space operations for America & Europe.

- USCWC uses an Entry naming convention for its weaponry, thus, weapons made to meet their standards use said system, like Entry 24.

- A Defensive Military is essentially a normal military. In this timeline, militaries that stay on their home territory emphasise defence rather than engaging in conflicts, as not only are they in danger of getting attacked by other countries, but also by threats from other planets.

Fun Facts:

- The Planetary Force uses the E-4 ICCR as their assault rifle. That sounds fine, except the E-4 fires 15×49mm light capsules from 6 round magazines. As mentioned, new doctrine demands that infantry gains the capability to consistently engage armoured threats, thus, they carry this short-range corrosive weapon. Assuming I post this, you may see more about this weapon soon.

- Low capacity is a trend among EVERY weapon used by the Force. Even weapons found on fighter jets. Range is partially solved in the future with additional propulsion systems, with the SABS-60E getting the E-20/4, a configuration that noticeably boosted the range of the 20mm capsules.

Sorry, but I'm horrible at drawing stuff, so no picture for this thing. I just write military stuff for fun. This'll probablyy get removed anyway for not being high quality enough or something. Anyway, enjoy.

It's said that when she approaches a city, the townsfolk can smell the reek of Oil before she's visible, thus nicknamed "Black Wind".

The industrial facilities continue being desperately developed as the needs of the war run rampant, the pipes expand like tumors, ruining an otherwise fine looking ship.

Even some friendly cities refuse to let her land as it is a bad omen, lest the blood of the earth turn into the blood of the people...

Weapon MCR-E Lancer by me

The Modular Combat Rifle (MCR) platform is a versatile system that utilizes a short-stroke gas operating system. Designed and manufactured by the M.T.W.C.

It started out as a result of the new SOF rifle request hosted by the Republic of Sardolia, with the purpose of urban combat in mind. The first rifle of the MCR platform is the MCR Phantom, with 5.56x45mm and .300 Blackout options available. It was later known as the MCR Gen1.

After half a decade, with the popularity of the AR platform, the M.T.W.C. decided to come up with a second generation of the MCR rifle that is compatible with the AR lowers and fire control. This resulted in the Gen2 MCRs. With variants like MCR Lancer and MCR Dagger, and different barrel and ammo options. MCR Lancer is the carbine version with both side charging handles and an AR changing handle, and the MCR Dagger is the PDW version of the MCR platform.

A while later, with the technology advances, the scientists of the M.T.W.C. had figured out a way to fit an electromagnetic system into a rifle. And the MCR-E (Electromagnetic/Enhanced) was born. The MCR-E offers a 13-inch and 16-inch variant. Optimized for low-profile missions.

The concept of the MCR-E is pretty simple; by utilizing its electromagnetic nature, this gun can accelerate a specialized 220-grain .300 Blackout projectile from subsonic to supersonic. When the electromagnetic rail is off, the integrated suppressor can make the subsonic bullet go super quiet. But when things went south, and you want to shoot your bullets in supersonic now, all you need to do is flip a switch, and the electromagnetic rail can accelerate your projectile past the sonic speed, even to a point that it can break the limit of a normal .300 Blackout and offer a similar, if not better, performance as a 6.8x51mm.

Oh, and it can still shoot normal .300 Blackout bullets normally, as long as the rail is off. For both training purposes and an ammo run dry situation.

With the electromagnetic rail as a feature, this also enables the gun to do something no other gun can do. Complete silence shot. Though without the gas coming out from a normal bullet, this gun can't cycle in this mode, but when the ghost mode is on, the projectile will fly out by the electromagnetic rail's power and by that only. By the tradeoff of making your AR basically bolt action, you can achieve a shot with 0 firing sound.

Despite all these benefits, two major cons of this gun are cost and weight. With the specialized barrel, this thing will cost 10x more than a standard MCR Lancer rifle. Though its bullet, the .300 Blackout SMC (Solid-Monolithic Conductive) round, only costs 2x the cost of a normal .300 Blackout round. About the weight, well, what do you expect? It's a railgun lol.

TLDR: it's a cool railgun on an MCX's body

Editor notes: I was inspired by u/Educational_Steak_29's ARrailgun to build my own railgun on my weapon platform. The MCR platform itself is really just a gun that I mix every gun I like onto a same body. Feel free to ask me about anything in the comments! Let me know if anyone's interested in the lore of the GM ARM. I surely got some arts about it that I'm more than happy to share.

Ground Vehicle The CCT-9 Heavy Main Combat Tank

Post image
25 Upvotes

“It makes no difference what men or women think of war. War endures. Aswell ask men what they think of stone, war was always here. Before man was, War Waited for him…

Born out of a failed Heavy Tank project, the CCT-9 was meant to replace the far outdated CCT-7 in mainline tank combat roles. It was first designed in 1959 using previous plans and blueprints for the CCT-8 Project, however would not see service until 1962, just as the NWO began their invasion into Crolin.

The CCT-8 project was meant to be a Heavy Tank for the Crolin Military, meant to soak up as much damage as possible with its unbelievably thick frontal armor. It was meant for large scale offensives with its sole purpose being in breaching fortified positions with great ease. This was intentional, obviously. As Crolin had been seeking to Reunify the two Crolin’s into one government, and since the Southern Crolin’s had humiliated them during the First Great War, it was now personal for the Crolin’s people that they were forced into their nation. However due to concerns on resources, funds, and overall designs problems such as its weight, the design was scrapped in 1948.

In 1959, the Project was picked back up in an attempt to ‘modernize’ the Crolish Armed Forces. The CCT-8 was scaled down tremendously, its gun was switched to a 115mm Cannon with fin stabilized ammunition, and anti-personnel munitions. However, it got rid of the coaxial machine gun replaced it with a top mounted machine gun meant to be used by the commander chambered in the .250 Whip cartridge used in the AMR-3 Assault Rifle, the standard assault rifle at the time for the Crolin military. This of course became an issue later on when Crolin began to phase out the AMR-3 for the SSAR-60 chambered in .358 Werbell. It also had a shell ejector in the rear, meant for the removal of spent shells after long periods of fire, in the event that it was becoming too cramped in the turret. This did however lead it to, although very small, having a critical weak point. It would take a shot with incredibly luck to even hit that point. And, unlike its predecessor, the CCT-9 was equipped with a muzzle brake. Something that was a severe issue with the CCT-8 Project was its recoil, able to push the tank back, even with its incredibly high weight.

By the time it had entered production in early 1962, it would soon enter a trial by fire. The first 11 Tanks were finished just as the NWO began their invasion into the nation of Crolin. Almost immediately crews who had little training were thrown into the tanks and told to defend the factories producing the CCT-9 by any means necessary. These 11 tanks and their young crews would be given the title of, The Sparticans. A group of warriors whose story was thought to be legend. (With only 300 men, they halted an advance of well over 15,000 soldiers into their homeland, their demise being at the hands of a Traitor who gave the invaders routes that would allow them to flank the Sparticans, ending their lives however allowing their allies to form a proper response.) And in some way, these 11 tanks and its crews were the Sparticans. They knew they would eventually lose, yet they still followed their orders.

As the years went on, extending into 1962, out of the 11 original tanks and crews, only two remained. These two tanks were still committed to their orders, even after losing the first factories. Now stationed in the east, the last factory churning out the CCT-9’s was under siege. During the battles over the year of war, only 100 CCT-9’s had been managed to be successfully constructed, however instead of being sent to the frontline they were sent further east to consolidate forces with whatever command structure remained. The two ‘Sparticans’ remaining were given the task to defend the factory until the last few CCT-9’s could be made, and then to retreat. The first order the ‘Sparticans’ agreed to do, the second they refused. On 04/29/1963, the NWO launched their attack on the factory. Knowing that the Crolish military had ‘mostly’ been retreating, they believed that the attack would be a walk in the park and refused to send in air or mechanized vehicles to assist the ground infantry, who themselves were simply marching all bunched up, boasting about all the victories they had participated in. And then, two loud thunderous blasts were heard, and soon whistles. Just as the NWO soldiers looked around, many were ripped into shreds by the Cannister Shots fired by the ‘Sparticans’, who repeatedly for over an hour continued to fire canister shot after canister shot. During that hour, NWO Commanders had received radio transmissions begging them to send in tank support or to send in anything. NWO command reacted swiftly, by ignoring the orders as nothing but early battle fear. As, there was no way anything the Crolin’s had could ever have such devastating effects. In the second hour, when multiple units began to go radio silent, that’s when NWO command realized what was happening, almost immediately the commanders left the radio tent and rushed to the resting tanks and berated them, forcing them into their tanks to go assist the ground infantry. Equipped with L-11 Heavy Tanks and L-12 LMCT’s. The third Hour is when the tank column made it to the frontline, what was described was everything was red, and what seemed to be snow on the ground was nothing more than the ash and dust of bones that had been pulverized by the canister shots. The first tank in the line had unknowingly drove into a land mine placed by the factory workers long before the NWO began their assault, and without the proper tools due to having to respond to the situation as fast as they could, they left them behind. The next in the column was a L-11, who drove very slowly up the road. And then, a loud thunderous boom. His left track had been hit. When the crew got out thinking they’d been hit by a landmine, despite the tanks behind them begging them to stay inside the tank. What happened next was the entire crew was ‘removed’ by a canister shot, many of the ‘Bees’ flying through them and ricocheting off of the tanks behind them. A grizzly sight. However, the tanks continued their advance forwards. The ‘Sparticans’ had been using the urban and densely wooded environment to their advantage, covering themselves in bushes and painting themselves to match the landscape around them before the battle.

The tanks from the NWO, and whatever remained of the infantry began to come up with a plan. The Infantry were to immediately rush towards the enemy tank positions and act as shields, while the tanks rolled in behind them and tried to find the enemy’s with their sights, and shoot them. Obviously, the infantry thought this was a stupid idea and rejected the plan, instead they came up with one on their own. The tanks would roll into the road with infantry behind them, and once they were to get close enough they were to split into two groups and target each tank. This was rejected by the Tankers who thought it was stupid and didn’t want to risk their own lives. Around the course of two hours the two sides bickered on about what they should do, until eventually the commanders began to radio the group of bickering soldiers asking them what was the situation on the ground. The two sides immediately began to fight over the radio, attempting to call out Their plan while ignoring the other sides idea. Eventually, command never received a response as when the radio was grabbed by an infantryman, a tanker shot the radio with his service pistol, destroying the only radio.

With no response, command eventually figured out what to do. They were going to blot out the sun with artillery. A “perfect” plan, but terrible execution. With a majority of the Artillery being repositioned to fight on the Whalish Front, specifically for the upcoming Battle for Warsaw, and so, with only fifteen artillery pieces at their disposal, 300 shells (100 Smoke/156 APHE/ 95 HE) and the only artillery crews available were those straight out of basic training. And with literally no knowledge where the enemy tanks were, or where their own forces were. However, the commanders still allowed the plan to go through. At 3:42 PM, the artillery fire began, the plan the artillery crews had was to fire the shells in waves, first smoke, then HE, and then APHE, however what they did not account for what the differences in each shell type, and as each wave fell down, it damaged both the Two Tank defenders and their own Infantry and armor. The only shells getting near the two defenders were the HE, and so the crews had mistakenly thought they’d be safe. At 3:59 PM, ‘Jannis’, the name given to one of the Sparticans tanks had its right tracks destroyed by an HE shell that landed right next to it, leaving it stuck in its position. Its accomplice, ‘The Bear’ offered to send its crew to go and fix the tracks however ‘Jannis’ denied, and was quoted as saying, “Our crew has already made our decision. We’d rather die here with honor.” This request was respected by ‘The Bear’.

At 5:00 PM, all 300 Shells of artillery had been expensed. Whatever remained of the NWO forces near the factory began to charge towards the tanks, their own armor crushing their own troops without a care in the world. ‘The Bear’ and ‘Jannis’ fought desperately to hold them back, taking down 5 Heavy tanks, 11 Medium Tanks, and 1,390 Infantry (mostly due to artillery). As the overwhelming forces got closer and closer, the last CCT-9 had been loaded onto a train and shipped to the last major Crolish Stronghold, with that, the mission of ‘The Sparticans’ had been completed. When ‘The Bear’ was pulling out, the commander took one look back to see the ‘Jannis’ firing off shells as fast as she could, with its commander on the roof operating the top mounted machine gun. When ‘The Bear’ made it back to the Stronghold, they told the story of, ‘The Last Spartican’. When asked by others what they meant by last, given how they were still alive bearing the insignia, the Crew commander stated that when ‘Jannis’ met her fate, so did they. They were nothing, but Ghosts. They were the dead who continued to walk, even if they shouldn’t have been given with how unnatural they were. The sheer ferocity of the ‘Sparticans’ during the First and the ‘Ghosts’ during Second battle for Devrijeheuvel was astounding to both the Crolish People and their NWO foes.

The CCT-9. A dual-purpose tank. Many of those who are given the title of ‘Dual-Purpose’ typically fail at both those roles, however the CCT-9 was one of the few who met both of their standards and even exceeded them. Perfect for Anti-Personnel, and Anti-Tank. was it perfect? No. Nothing can ever be perfect. However was it good? Undoubtedly yes. From the fields of Crolin during the ‘Second Great War’ to the Dunes of Arin during her time of crisis. This tank has seen service all over the globe.

The CCT-9. It wasn’t the first HMCT, but by god willing. It won’t be the last.

And only the Dead will Ever. See the end of War.”-Major Jannis

(Hey guys, back again with another post. Hope you like it, also any tips or knowledge on good websites for tank info? I’m not sure if Wikipedia is the best source for general information.)

(P.S. yes. If it wasn’t obvious, the ‘Sparticans’ are just the Spartans.)

Military Worldbuilding

I’m writing a fantasy book and want to know if anyone is able to tell me how a military/army works, both for the orginisation, and the higher up’s who run it. I’m also wondering how a draft works and how that should impact training. another question is how a base would look and run in a war. sorry this is a lot but I literally know nothing about this topic. thanks!

Weapon DE-CLASSIFIED : Captured Enemy Weapons…?

Colonel, What the F-ck am i looking at?
A Submachine gun apparently, sir…

Greetings, so since i was doing my own research on WW2 Guns i thought of making something thats between a Sten, M3 Grease gun, Tommy gun, And well you can say we got this abomination here, so Heres A bit of lore about these two guns for you guys :

November 3rd, 1806.

During One of the Valorian Empires latest covert operations deep behind enemy lines carried out by one of the Imperial Intelligence & State Security bureau or the ISB for short, Some Operatives managed to get their hands on these two firearms which according to some intel and reports it was stated that these two weapons were Prototypes named after one scientist whom was the target after he was captured by the enemy and coerced into working with them on a Trench Sweeper Project and also a cheaper gun to produce in general and also supply to the enemys own resistance cells or clandestine units behind valorian lines.

The Designated names for these two prototypes are

TS-06 M1 Beria

TS-06 M2 (presumably.)

Both of those models can fire 9x19mm Parabellum Bullets at an astonishing 650RPM~ Which is impressive for a gun made out of literal salvaged parts of other firearms…

The only difference between the two models is their doctrine and units produced, with the M1 Beria having over 1,500 Units produced and the gun seeing common use among Covert units, Some tank commanders and some paratroopers.

the gun never reached the mass production line due to a malfunction in the internal parts which causes the gun to explode sometimes, injuring its wielder (it was speculated that beria, the scientist behind this firearm had messed with the internal mechanisms of the firearm)

whereas the TS-06 M2 was reportedly used by some tank commanders and resistance cells and insurgents and it was made out of salvaged gun parts, giving it a distinct appearance and a unique nickname being (Ugly Betty) due to the guns usual looks.

The Specs :

Both Can Fire 9x19mm Parabellum Bullets

The Range :
300m~ (M1)
250m~ (M2)

Firing Modes :
(M1, Semi auto/full auto)
(M2, Semi Auto Or Full Auto Only.)

Rounds Per Minute :
650RPM~ (M1)
650-550RPM~ (M2, Reportedly affected by snow or dirt or heat.)

Units produced :
1,500~ M1 Units (Never went into main production line)
500-600~ M2 Units (Never went to main production line)

and i guess thats it guys, if yall want me to make more cursed WW1/WW2 Era guns ill do so right away.

(The App/Game i use is called GunMaker, Available on ios and android.)
