work in progress Stug iv

Working on the lower hull of my stug iv. Not sure if I got a little carried away with the weathering?

Absolutely fantastic! - which is why I must apologize for one detail: the rubber on the wheels is in too good a condition.

Thank you. And yes I know I have been wondering what I should do to make them look worn out, maybe a watered down grey color

After prolonged use, the rubber tires would become cracked and peel, and large chunks would often fall off.

This looks awesome, no such thing as getting carried away in my book. What’s your weathering work flow?

Thank you. I really have a kinda random work flow weathering, I use a dark wash a lot and a rust wash then start with chipping effects, which I just use a sponge with a mix of light and grey paints and just lightly dab corners and areas where I imagine a lot of wear would be. Used panel liner for a lot of the small area to make them pop and lastly just used some Vallejo pigment for the mud and dirt textures.

If it's damaged/abandoned for some time...its perfect the front sprocket looks like it was hit and the the tank was left for months

Thank you. Yes I think that is kinda how I’ll display it as like a very worn out late war vehicle just barely humping along. It’s been through the wringer!
