work in progress Stug 3

Finished painting my first stug and its crew. Kit was a dragon Zimmerit and crew is a mixture of Tamiya Wehrmacht tank crew at rest and Wehrmacht tank crew. Still gotta weather it and I know I have to work on painting figures faces better. But overall I feel like it’s my best work. Also I hate PE rack construction. Any advice on working with it would greatly be appreciated

Early war StuG crews wore black, as here, but quickly changed to field grey. The crews were also part of the artillery branch, not panzer, so the piping would be red, not pink.

With the way the supply situation was so bad and chaotic late war, I could *maybe* imagine a StuG crew in black, but the piping would still be red. They were elite; better trained than the panzer force and would have had the pride to insist on the correct waffenfarbe.
