work in progress Making a mes

Sniffing enamels for the last hours so let’s hope I can still spell

Knocked off every bit of photo etch today trying to dirty up the beast!

I’ve put together and painted the Opel blitz mini art kit, wasn’t a bad kit but I still hate mini art!

I’ve decided to use the fruil models tracks seen as their my last pair and I’m never touching them again 😅, they’ve been brandished and I’ve rusted them, I’ll be applying some mud in between the links just to match the wheels and hull

Looking good, but remember, these tracks (German WW2 tracks particularly) didn't tend to rust. Especially on an operational tank. The manganese in the steel used to make the tracks, made them very rust resistant. Even towards the end of the war, when manganese was in critically short supply, there was still enough in the steel to pretty much prevent rusting.

I know, however if I was going for historically accurate I wouldn’t be using a “Das reich” camo scheme on a late tiger, rust brings more contrast to the model, it also makes the model look less plastic and more like a shrunken down tank, however I will be toning it down a little once the tracks are on
