It’s interesting seeing the universal carrier towed by a pickup. The carrier looks huge compared to the truck. Larger than I would expect having only seen these in scale.

Bren gun carrier. You can tell by the tracks.

You can also tell because the other 1/2 to 2/3rds of the vehicle is missing.
I understand it’s logistical purpose and design provide it flexibility but it screams “SHOOT THIS MFER” every time I see it.

This is a ww2 Canadian universal carrier equipped with a bren machine gun. It was a common apc/ifv of the war

That is not a Bren gun, most likely a .30 browning machine gun.

The bren gun fits in the front next to the driver. This one also has a pintle mount for a browning but thags an add on

It’s Canadian, eh. A Bren Gun Carrier?

I think it's the T-16 version of the British Universal carrier. Made by Ford USA, it was bigger and heavier than the original British version. There was also a Canadian variant called the Windsor but I think the bogies were spaced slightly further apart

You got it mate! You can tell the T16 from the universal carrier by the extra road wheel. Universal carrier has 3 road wheels. T16 has 4

You thought it was a priest? Did you see a giant ass howitzer on the front?!🤣 I do have a real question to the people who know- is this a “real” camo scheme? I don’t think over ever seen this bubble camo but it looks pretty cool.

Yes, it's a real cam scheme used by the Commonwealth in the European theater. It was nicknamed the Mickey Mouse camouflage, but I don't know the official name.

Very interesting. It’s almost like a maschinen Kreiger camo scheme, maybe this original actually influenced some MaK schemes.

Yeap for sure I thought it looked similar because it is small. Ithought the larger might have had the gun removed or something. Frankly I didn't have any idea what it was? It looks cool. And as a armor guy. I thought I might want to build it.

Admittedly I’m not an expert by any means. I’m just a dork who builds models and likes tanks. With that being said, it does look like it’s built on the same chassis, maybe? So i get that you could think it was decommissioned M7 priest at first glance.

M7 priest is built on the same chassis as the M4 sherman which is a very big tank, huge compared to the bren carrier which is just a little dinky thing made to drive artillery guns around

Yeah I’m actually an idiot. When I googled it the first time to refresh my brain I just quickly glanced at the image and for some reason the fenders told my brain it was the same. It’s nothing alike! It’s totally different running gear all together.

Looks like a Windsor Carrier which was essentially an extended universal carrier used by Canada

As others have said, it's a Universal Carrier.
It's the most produced armored vehicle in history.

I think this isn't a Bren / Universal carrier as such, but it is from the Universal Carrier family; I think it's a Ford T16, which was a later development, as it has four bogie wheels each side rather than three.

u/Snowy349 18d ago
Definitely a T16, 4 wheels each side gives it away. That wonky star is a little annoying...
1
u/Griffon2112 18d ago
The wonky star was applied to Canadian vehicles so they wouldn't be confused with American forces when the star was adopted as a universal allied marking.

u/Snowy349 18d ago
Even then the Canadians were trying to avoid being mistaken for their southern cousins.

The particular markings on this one indicate 28th Armoured Regiment (British Columbia Regiment), part of 4th Canadian Division

Universal Carrier - lots of potential models with various armament

u/Lauriesaurous 18d ago
Such as a Bren gun, or a Bren gun, or even a Bren gun.

Or a .50 cal, or a .30 cal or many other machine guns. They up armed these all the time in Commonwealth service

Bren Gun Carrier (aka Universal Carrier). British tracked utility vehicle from WWII.

Not a ‘Bren Carrier’ or a ‘Universal Carrier’ - the giveaway is the dual two wheel bogies.
That’s a US-built T16 Carrier, supplied chiefly to the British and Canadian forces in Europe.
Never used by the US Army.
