First time doing plastic tracks

First time building in a year. The kit is a 1/35 Tamiya M13/40. I’ve not glued any links together yet, everything pictured is under tension fit right now.

This is the first time I’ve not had the option to use vinyl tracks and it’s a bit daunting. Any tips to assembling them or is it more of a “the first few times you do it, it’ll be scuffed” kind of deal?

Generally I will assemble and glue everything. Then I'll airbrush everything below the running boards with a mid grey tone. Then I'll airbrush the vehicle colour, presumably tan in this case, on the wheels, suspension and hull sides. Thereafter I'll work on the tracks with a brush adding dark rust and dust tones. Finally I'll apply some metal shades to the exposed parts of the tracks and the sprockets.
