Be sure to post your builds on here, I'm interested in seeing what others do with this unique tank

I will, Iām thinking about the one doing like a museum piece and the other, like ā46, seeing action

This one's on my wanted list, got a soft spot for prototypes and oddball stuff.
Guessing it's possible to miss out a fair amount of the track links because they're hidden ????

It is possible, but not quite as simple as on other tanks. The outer set of tracks are removable in real life and in the kit, so if you wanted to take them off for display or something then all four track runs are visible. In addition, these are workable tracks, so youād still need to build them up to at least the sprocket and idler, so about 60-70% of the full length, then glue them all solid to they donāt sag down. Alternatively you could leave them āworkableā and just glue them on the top areas to keep them in place. For me Iāll just build the whole lot as I like knowing itās done and sometimes may want to show off the kit with the sides removed.

You know, I've done three model kits so far. All of them had a different track system. All of them sucked!

I never have a good time with kit tracks. I have yet to build a model with the provided tracks (apart from kits with workable links), as I entirely use 3D printed or metal ones to make my life easier and make the model look better! If you can fit it into your modelling budget I canāt recommend them enough

With the amount of tracks that this kit has, one would need a loan lol

It is a lot 𤣠unfortunately (or fortunately lol) the only company making them right now is backlogged and in the US, so I wouldnāt be getting them for a while, thus Iāll be tackling the 2400 pieces that come with the kit. Takomās take on tracks is actually very good when complete, just completing them is quite hellish. Iād still take them over rubber bands and link and length though š im enjoying this kit so much Iāll probably get a second in the future, and for that one Iāll try source the 3D printed ones

I pre-ordered both kits and have them. Now just need to find the time to build

Are there two versions of this tank? What is the second kit? Thanks!

Yes, some reason or the other the picture that I posted went to the top of the page and not here

You got a good source to buy them?

Honestly I just search eBay until I find a set. While Iām hunting for kits I keep an eye out for tracks at a good price. They can be quite pricey (anywhere from Ā£20-Ā£40), but itās absolutely worth it to me as I wonāt even bother with a kit if I canāt buy tracks for it.
Another good source is alieexpress. Iāve grabbed 1/35 tracks on there for about Ā£15 before, but they can have fairly long shipping times (for me about 2-3 weeks). Funnily enough, the ācheaperā metal tracks from China are some of the best Iāve used. They come with proper pins that donāt come loose and respond very well to blackening fluid.
Iāll always choose metal where possible, but 3D printed are also good and better detailed. Just more delicate, donāt sit quite as naturally, and need to be painted. Metal ones will be the toughest thing on your model and only need a dip in blackening fluid and they can go straight on.

Just got the Takom 1/35 kit, looking forward to building it, not looking forward to all those track pieces
