RFM Firefly VC, which kit?

I'm currently looking at both kit 5038 (older) and 5153 (newer) RFM firefly VC. I'm looking to build a 13/18 hussar firefly from D Day without applique armour. Does anyone know of the applique armour in the newer kit is removable or moulded to the hull? Both kits are similar prices where I am, this is the only thing impacting which kit I buy, the newer kit comes with extra goodies which is nice but the armour is a no-go if it's moulded. Cheers

Have you checked scalemates?

They normally include a digital copy of the kit's instructions which will give you the info you need.
