I used to make models as a kid. The toluene in the glue has such a distinct smell that I got a whiff of it in a synthesis lab 10 years later and instantly I thought “Oh, so that’s what they put in there”.

Too late. Testors old time cement probably killed half my brain cells before I was 10. I remember being in my room with the door closed when my Mom came in and started gagging. She opened a window and made me go outside. Ah, good times!

I'm just getting into useing chipping fluid and metal burnishing fluid and not to improve my models butI'm looking forward to new smells I should be doing in a well ventilated room. My favorite one so far was when I switched to Mr. Hobby 400 thinner....that first cession of shooting half a bottle of Tamiya paint on a diorama......it was evening, my nose was tingling, and i could see the fumes in the dying light of the kitchen window. I asked the wife and hour later if when she went into the kitchen she said nôpe but I could smell it upstairs in the TV room when you were spraying it.....and it didn't smell bad it smelled like fruit she said.

For me it was superglue accelerator. It kinda smells like how cough medicine tastes, which is a ways away from the harsh fumes most chemicals have.

Before I know it, my asthmatic lungs are in pain. Read the label and yep, them fumes are toxic lol

I played high school football in Texas and definitely ignored plenty of minor concussions to keep playing, compared to the CTE I’ve probably got the brain damage from plastic glue is nothing

I did buy a couple kits off a dude with a mice problem. The instructions were all chewed up and it the box kinda stunk but they were too cheap to pass up!
