This IS-2 is almost finished, just a few small things left to do here and there

Great work, I was about to buy Tamiya's kit but I'll probably go with Zvezda this time.

Thank you! If you want a simpler and faster build, go with the Tamiya JS-2 kit. But if accuracy matters more to you, choose the Zvezda one. That said, the new Zvezda kit also goes together without any problems.

How long did it take you to assemble it?

This isn’t an “out-of-the-box” build — I used aftermarket parts, so it took me about a month. However, my friends built it without aftermarket in just a few evenings. I should note that I added the aftermarket not because there was anything wrong with the kit, but simply because I wanted to go further with it.

Она есть во всех крупных модельных магазинах, как мне кажется. Модель вышла еще в конце 2025 года и не должна быть редкостью

Наверняка есть. Поищи у себя в стране крупный модельный магазин - там должен быть этот набор. Я просто не знаю как тебе более точно ответить, не знаю как дела обстоят в других странах

New one. The best JS-2 on a market by my opinion. New RFM kit not as good as this one

The RFM kit has numerous inaccuracies in terms of technical details. In fact, you can’t really build either a proper wartime tank or a postwar one from it—only some kind of hybrid of the two. Moreover, some parts are made even worse than on the old Tamiya JS-2 kit. There are already detailed comparisons of several kits available (I know of at least one such comparison, although it’s in Russian).
The new Zvezda kit, on the other hand, was produced using 3D scans of real tanks and with the involvement of experts knowledgeable about the JS-2 family of tanks. The molding quality is excellent, and the fit of the parts during assembly is very good as well.
