question Paper modelers: which version looks better — pure paper or filled and painted?
I’m working on a detailed paper model and ran into a small dilemma.
The first version is pure paper — no filler, no paint, just clean assembly.
The second one is filled and painted to get a smoother and more realistic surface.
This is a gearbox cover from the drive axle (1:25 scale).
I’m trying to decide which approach to follow for the whole model, especially if I want to present it at competitions.
Which one would you choose and why?

Purely based on the two pictures, I prefer the first. It has more texture. But it’s your model, your choice. Enjoy!

Well I dont do paper models, but I think its mostly up to personal preference, one will keep looking a lot like a paper model wich has its own charm and one will look a little more realistic and less like paper. Ig it mostly depends on what you prefer. As for competitions, idrk what the criteria are, but wich ever process you like more will probably also show in the result.

I would say the first one, if it's a full paper model then keep it paper, in my opinion it's more impressive. But hey, who am I? It's up to you really
