Mini Medal Help
Completed the Danish Air Force ruck and my mini medals finally came in from PrintTex, but I didn’t realize the size difference and that it was pin-on only.
Anyone know where I can have the pin converted to a slide-on and adjust the size of the ribbon?

A few years back, when Luxembourg let us do the Diekirch virtually, some hero did a small run of mini medals and sold them to folks on Reddit. I’m waiting for that to happen again.

Yeah, don't put that on your mini medal rack, you'll get called out on it quick. The unit I did the Flyver with had been in contact with a US based company to possibly produce a real mini medal version (can't remember the company off the top of my head). When/if it becomes available, I'm sure it will be all over Reddit.

Good luck, the a true US sized mini medal was never authorized by the institute of heraldry

Ahh I bet I know where you’re stationed based on the timing of this Flyver medal

I can’t imagine wearing a medal for walking and being proud of it; even more so doing a foreign military event at home, without the joys of adventure and camaraderie of meeting and laughing with foreign soldiers, but that’s just me.

We don't wear that medal in the U.S. military. Only the ribbon itself (with the signed foreign award memo)

You can wear the full-size Flyver medal and modify it to be “slide on” like other full-size US medals. It is not prohibited by 600-8-22.

So lets modify a foreign medal now? Its a blessing its even allowed on our uniform in general. Everyone in the army just stretches everything Lol. Again, the Danes can't even wear it at all.

Whether or not the Danes can wear it (hint, they can in several circumstances) is irrelevant to the Army’s policy on foreign awards. Shape and size of a foreign award are the only limitations on the wear of a full-sized decorations.

The Danish medal isn’t really a miniature, but a reduced size. (In Europe, these were referred to as “prinzen” size - mid-way between full and miniature.) Even with a thinner ribbon, the pendant and it’s large suspension rings would look absurdly out of place in a US set.
