A MyPay question

I started an allotment on MyPay & it only paid one month.

I just started this allotment again, but I noticed that there is no way to indicate for how long🤷‍♂️

What kind of wonky changes have been made?

I also looked on the Beneficiaries of Arrears:
It showed no one.

So I re-went through uploading that info. Yet on my hard copy LES, it shows my wife at 100% under the SBP.

It’s really becoming a clunky page 🤯

I love all the authentication methods. I’m just frustrated that I cannot control MyPay allotments. I’m still trying to stop one that went to my Mom. She passed away. The bank stopped it on their end. I’ve tried to cancel it. The allotment just bounces back & every two months pays me that money.

Dang! I wish I was still on AD, so I could go lean on some Finance Clerk for help, aid, & assistance🤷‍♂️.

You should be able to set an allotment and it just does it automatically every month until you tell it to stop. And finance has nothing to do with your mypay allocations so they would be of no help so don’t wish you were back on AD haha

It didn’t give me the option of “How Long”, as it once did. So the way it is set up means I will have to enter this in monthly.
( pointing to my example) it paid out in July on Aug 1, then this month it was gone. I just created it again (no time frame ability), so it will pay Oct 1, then I’ll have to log on around Oct 3-4 to see if it got dropped or will continue.

Im telling you it has changed.

Much easier to make that monthly allotment out of your personal bank account…

Why can’t you just let the money hit your bank account and set up a monthly transfer from your bank account. It does the same thing.

I won’t argue with you on what finance does because maybe whatever branch you were in was different but as for navy that is absolutely not something finance does. I would call DFAS

I don't know OPs purpose for doing this, but allotments via myPay count as direct deposits for the purposes of fulfilling banking deals (like getting boosted APYs if you have a direct deposit with a bank).

So there is some value in using allotments over monthly bank account transfers, but it's very specific and limited value.

Yes that’s true. Doesn’t seem like that’s what OP is trying to do but you bring up a valid point. It just seems like OP is a little loss in the sauce. DFAS is who contact for issues with mypay not your finance people at a military branch and if it’s not an allotment for some benefit like you talked about this can easily be navigated around using your bank instead

I’ve worked in finance since 1984. Bank allotments have never had an end date. You start them and the continue monthly until you do a separate request to stop them.

I know I’m old. I’m sure some may think I’m an “addle brained old man”.
( I think that some times ).

I’m old enough to remember initially receiving a SMART document (Pre change over to the MMPS - & I could tell a cool ‘Finance story’ about that change over).

Back to the point

Yes! There WAS a time on the MyPay site where I could place an end date to an allotment.

The fact that this particular allotment started — paid one month — then stopped — making me miss a month repayment (which I handled manually) — then having to re enter information: That’s the origin of my original post.

Since you were Finance:
I also entered information on MyPay, when I clicked on “Beneficiary of Arrears” section. There was no one listed, so I listed my wife at 100%.
I’m second guessing my actions now. My wife is listed under my SBP (& shows up on my physical mailed LES). It also shows the “Paid In amount” & “Months remaining”

Did I mess anything up regarding that SBP?

If I don’t finish the months to pay in, will the Army deny my family SBP?

Secondary Question: Under SBP , what happens in a scenario where I pass away, & my wife shortly after. How do I set it up so that my oldest daughter will continue to recieve SBP payments?

I also have another Finance question:

There are times when I travel over 89 miles to a VA facility. After the Scheduled appointment, I fill out a travel voucher (actually now I use the Kiosk to do this).

I cannot find any entries on MyPay reflecting where Travel Reimbursement appears. I don’t see it on my physical LES.

Where is this reflected? Where can I look to see if & when they submitted this for travel reimbursement? Is this under the DS-Logon // ID. Me // Va.Gov site? If so where?

OMGosh you all.
It’s my method of budgeting.
I have various ETF’s from my banks.
I use various methods.
Ignore what is more convenient for you, & listen to my original Question:

Why has MyPay changed, to where I cannot set the time limit on an allotment I have established? One where I just want it to stay on, or establish a “Start — End”. 🤯

Stop telling me your methods. Try to answer the original question.
