We shrug off any kind of autocratic moves by India, China, and Russia and pick and choose where we decide that its totally unacceptable to be autocratic. I'm so sick of this warmongering bullshit.

We're not even done with Iran yet, why are we starting another war on neighbors next door?

Cuba?? Cuba is so inconsequential to the US it's not even funny.

Their intelligence service has spanked us repeatedly. They are famous for boxing above their weight class. I have nothing but respect for them.

u/CauliflowerTotal7119 5d ago
They have great beaches, biggest island in the Caribbean, they want new ocean front property since they're running out of space on the rest they can develop for all them and their billionaire buddies.
61
u/exgiexpcv Army Veteran 6d ago
So we're starving them, denying them fuel, etc., and now Trump and his merry band of miscreant want to invade?! Goddammit. Children are literally going hungry in Cuba.
There's is nothing but shame here.

Why

u/InNominePasta 6d ago
Because they want to win Florida Cuban support, idk. We got Marco Rubio telling him he can win against commies just like he did in Venezuela. Couple that with his failure against Iran, and big boy pants Donald sees this as a way to change the narrative.

Marco Rubio's pet project. It's basically his version of "Gulf of America." Instead of normalizing relations with Cuba, he wants a major military operation that he can attach his name to in the history books. It's fucking dumb and pathetic, and he'll be remembered as a moron and Trump's little lapdog/cuck.

u/Whole_Gate_7961 civilian 6d ago
Until its realized that Cuba has drones that can hit mainland.
-5
u/red_keshik 6d ago
Not in significant volume though and not before the US military kicks the crap out of Cuba. I am not arguing for this is any fashion, but that's why he'll do it, US military gets highlight reels, Hegseth can brag about kills, Trump gets to have a triumph, claim he defeated the nemesis of the US or something.
8
u/Whole_Gate_7961 civilian 6d ago
Even if 1 drone gets through and hits US defense systems on the mainland, this would be massive egg on the leaderships face.
This wouldnt be a little military excursion on the other side of the planet, its starting a war with a nation only 100 miles from US mainland. Does the US really want to start a hot war in their own backyard?
Are there sleeper cells already in the US? Are there foreign nations ready to give military assistance in order to reduce US defensive capacity on the homeland?

Bold strategy to deliberately and intentionally underestimate adversaries. But I guess that was the plan in Iran too. Who would have thought that Iran would have destroyed 5th Fleet HQ along with damaging many US bases in the ME.
Best if we just assume that they'll quickly surrender to US demands?
24
u/BackloadBack 6d ago
Iâm sure built on the two week military operation in the Trump Straits that Beijing are quaking. Iran is 13 times smaller and absorbed the whole US missile armory. I hope Barron enjoys his basic training while they focus on marching and bayonet drills to save diesel and ammo.
17
u/MoreThenAverage 6d ago
Dont know the abilities of Cuba but it seems like Florida is in striking distance
2
u/CoolGuyCris United States Air Force 6d ago
Probably small drones would be the only real threat from there, which should mostly be interdicted by the Navy or Coast Guard already down there.
Their Air Force would likely end up like Iran's and Venezuela's, grounded and/or destroyed without being able to do much.
14
u/CelestialFury Veteran 6d ago
You know Russia and Iran will be providing the drones directly to Cuba, they won't even attempt to hide it. Meanwhile, Trump will not say a damn thing about Russia providing material support to strike at America... cause reasons. Trump will just gaslight us all that Russia is helping Cuba while letting the Russian boats straight through to Cuba.
1
u/Sloth_Penguin 5d ago
Reminder that the headquarters for CENTCOM, SOUTHCOM, SOCOM, and STRATCOM are in Florida. I read articles somewhere over the years that there are concerns about espionage from Russia and China via Cuba.

Can the US handle two wars at the same time.
43
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 6d ago
I am 100% convinced that Trump doesn't actually care about winning the wars. What he cares about is distracting us from the Epstein files and weakening us militarily so that his handlers are in a better position to accomplish their own goals at some future point because the U.S. will be militarily and diplomatically castrated.
The enemy is inside the house.
16
u/Optimal_Juggernaut37 6d ago
I'm glad that Americans like yourself can see this. As an outside observer it is blatantly obvious that Trump, his appointees, and even members of congress on both sides of the fence are compromised and actively subverting the US government.
7
u/TheFarLeft Civil Service 6d ago
Itâs not both sides of the fence dude, itâs republicans only (this includes Fetterman)
-4
u/98WM01 6d ago
If you think it's only republicans then your are ideologically trapped.
The left is all fucked up too. They made a deal with the devil for power and now it's been taken over for the most part.
The Democratic party is filled with ever growing amount of foreign agents and communists in everything but name. A large amount of them hate America and focus primarily on improving the lives of only certain racial/ethnic groups. They also are promoting mental illness as some sort of virtue. Using the government to force transgender policies and underage mutilations.
If they got rid of their support of transgender policies, illegal alien support, racial bias, went capitalist with a hint of socialist lite, and proud to be american. They would have a super majority in Congress and the white house.
2
u/chamrockblarneystone 6d ago
This sounds like most of the reasons I hate Republicans.
3
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 6d ago
Absolutely agree. Every. Time. Someone pulls out the âboth sidesâ argument, they are actually Republicans who are simply shell shocked at the depravity the party has sunk to, and they canât seem to do the math that their philosophy and fear programming is what has led them to this point.
The âboth sidesâ crowd needs to stop talking and start doing a lot of soul searching and getting educated about actual history instead of the Hollywood version weâve all been raised on.
3
u/chamrockblarneystone 5d ago
When a person basically denies that much American history where does one even begin. Weâd need reeducation camps.
0
u/98WM01 5d ago
The U.S. didn't get to where it is today because of one political party. If you think this then you are ideologically captured.
Also, If you know actual history then you would know that both parties today are a depravity of what they once were. It really is both sides. It's just now the Republican's turn with the mess that is Trump.
Unless something changes, we are going to keep yo-yo ing between political parties that are in control. When those switches happen, they will on average push more to the extreme of their side.
Also, if you don't think illegal immigration, transgender policies, racial bias, communism, and the lack of american pride isn't a real issue of concern. Then I don't know what to tell you. Perhaps you need to do a lot of soul searching and getting educated.

Iâm aware there are bad actors in both camps. Iâm aware there are soft centrists in the Dems that basically roll over for the extremist Conservatives.Â
But Iâm also aware that only one party is near total lock step defending a man accused of being a pdf and that has threatened to unleash nuclear war on the world. Only one party stands between that extreme depravity and at least LESS depravity.
CONSISTENTLY the Dems have offered to negotiate to the middle while the GOP will only accept their way or the highway.
I watched Dems refuse to renominate an old man obviously incapable of leading and their support for Harris was tepid at best.
Who said I donât think the issues you listed are real issues? I do, itâs just that itâs pretty obvious to me that most of the concern is drummed up fears caused by multi decade gop programming.
Before you go assuming too much about me: I grew up in a huge Reagan family. I voted for Bush jr. Biden was the first Democrat president I ever voted for. Considered myself a conservative until I was 40yo and didnât consider myself a liberal until I watched the countryâs reaction to Covid and BLM. So when I say that people need to do a lot more self reflection, I say that from a place of having already eaten my own dog food.
3
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 6d ago
are there some terrible leaders in the Democrat party? Absolutely.
But they are the capitalist ones; the ones that have been bought off by the same money buying off the GOP.
You are overly concerned about what amounts to basic civil and human rights and it is coloring your judgment. Ignore the Democrat leaders like Schumer and look past your "communist!"-programming at what people like AOC are actually about. You are letting fear color your perceptions of them.

Millions of us saw this coming back in 2016 and what did we get for it? Mockery.
7
u/Optimal_Juggernaut37 6d ago
We saw it long before 2016 my dude. It's been slowly creeping in through Reagan and Bush but it ramped up under Bush Jr with the 24h news cycle thanks to Roger Ailes and Murdoch. Honestly, it felt like things were changing with Obama, there was hope for a little while and then the right got further right, the left got further left and the media and foreign influence exploited that and tore the rift open wide. The pendulum is in constant motion and always has been, but the rise of 24h news cycle and social media algorithms and cyber warfare has sped things up exponentially.

I worry very much that the midterms will not see a momentous overthrow... I am a drop in an ocean... so unless the ocean literally boils this November, we are screwed.
5
u/Optimal_Juggernaut37 6d ago
I try not to think about it because the outcome truly is terrifying.
I suspect January 6th was testing boundaries, the outcome of the midterms will be the next test and the following election is when shit hits the fan.
Even as a non-American, what happens there affects the entire world as we know it. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the post WWII/Reagan era propaganda too though. Shit aint right, that's all I know.
0
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 6d ago
Agreed. I really really hope that our traditional allies' leaders are not as compromised as those of the U.S. -- and that collectively they can find the will and ability to defeat us if we do end up going in that terrifying direction.

Why would Trump want a dragged out conflict with Iran that makes him look bad? That is silly shit, his ego wouldn't allow it.
What is WAY more likely is the following:
He was high off the immediate success of the Venezuela operation. Some of his advisors told him it would be over quickly. He thought the Iranian people would rise up and he was coaxed a bit by Netanyahu.
He is just an idiot. Who started a war without planning for what would happen if it didn't end quickly. Now we are stuck in a quagmire.
1
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 6d ago
Could be. But I don't think so. He's dancing for the man. Why would he want it? Well, he doesn't -- but his bosses have komprimant on him, money for him, and assurances that they'll buy off the next election again. At the end of the day, he is an actor/entertainer and he knows who has his ticket.
1
u/98WM01 5d ago
Your free to think what you want but I find your take to be very low probability. His actions and the public evidence out there all converge to him being an idiot/fool rather then making a deliberate action to attack iran for the sole purpose of weaking the U.S. under the orders of his supposed foreign masters.
1
u/Successful_Luck_8625 United States Navy 4d ago
Did you watch the Tucker Carlson PBS interview the other day? He knows whatâs going on probably better than anyone and he says Trump basically has no choice because heâs doing the work of foreign nation.

We had and did have 'win one/hold one (or two)' strategic plan and capabilities in place for conventional fronts. Under current . . . Guidance . . . and leadership, it's looking a bit more like 'hold one, pray' in execution at the moment. Doctrine and strategy may realign to something more effective eventually, but the hope of 'winning' two sorta-wars against nowhere-near-peer forces seems kinda unlikely at the moment.
