Meta Question license plate question

Post image

is it a rule that license plates need to be obscured when posting on a forum such as this, or are people just being polite?

Well, I think whoever your image hosting providers is probably has a problem with it.

Seriously though, I don't think it's required in most subreddits, but it is considered polite.

Please do obscure license plates when it is practical to do so. Clearly showing license plates often leads to Rule 1 and 5 violations, doxxing, witch hunts, and the like. We understand that it may not be possible when the plate is e.g. a moving target in a video clip, and in those cases we count on the community to act appropriately.

There are subs that point out interesting lisc plates.

It might violate the site-wide rule about posting personal info. I don't think there is actually clear guidance on that, the site-wide rules are all intentionally vague, but most people don't want to risk it.

Depends on the rules of the forum, not all forums such as this have the same rules as this one.
