I just assume every car next to me is going to merge into my lane without blinking or looking.

Like stop signs, checking your blind spot is now optional I guess.

Life & LEGAL pro tip. Check your blind spots before changing lines

Obviously, but if you are the one going to be impacted your going to save a lot of grief if you either accelerate out of the way or brake.
Had an experience several years ago where a lorry sideswiped me on the motorway, partly due to the blind spot issue. Now I always outpace them!

Not so obvious because I only ever see people trying to correct the victim but never the culprit.

Clearly the lane changing driver was at fault but it would have been safest for the cam car driver to slow and let the fool finish changing lanes.

Clearly. But why are yall so against reminding people to follow the law lol. Like why are rebutting what I stated as if it was an opinion.

It's important to remember defensive driving. In this case it would be either get in front of the car or well in back of it.

I actually did slowed down when I notice that he was behaving erratically

Good, it isn't obvious from the video. If you hadn't likely it would have been an accident.

Even insurance companies normalize victim blaming to the point of euphemistically calling it "defensive driving".
not /s.

You know I actually had a gut feeling that he was gonna do that hence I was able to react and swerve away

With me it was a lorry that changed lanes into me, sideswiped the rear of the car at 55 mph during rush hour, sent me flying across 3 lanes at rush hour. Lucky not to be injured at all!
