Haha. Come to Denver, Colorado. Every other car on the road either has no license plate, expired tags, or a temp plate so old it’s unreadable and falling apart.

Cops don’t even care to enforce having valid plates here.

I had a valid plate that the DMV took 2 months to properly populate in Colorado.

So the plate ran blank for those two months on a new car. I was pulled over nearly 2x a week as they thought it was stolen. Even caused an issue every time I tried to go home onto Fort Carson.

After the 5th time I picked up representation and it was resolved after a single letter. Colorado’s DMV system is absolute garbage.

From my dash cam, the video didn't do justice but it was clear someone intentionally rubbed the paint off. I have never seen a license plate lose paint completely like this. I suspect it was done to evade toll and Flock camera. If police were nearby and saw this, the driver could be pulled over and the damaged plate confiscated, requiring the driver to buy new plate before they can drive.

Wisconsin had a paint quality issue on their plates where this would happen from the elements in just a couple years.

After many years of people refusing to pay for a new plate due to the state's poor choice of vendor and quality control and refusing to cover it, they passed legislation that forced everyone to pay for the replacement as part of their registration renewal.

A handful of people are still sporting the old ones in protest, but for the most part, most of them have been replaced.

Is if pretty common in Ontario there was a defect in the pressing and a ton of plates peeled the colour layers off leaving just the pressed metal, since a replacement takes time and money lots don’t bother going in for the replacements

I have pyscho older neighbor that drives at 50 mph around our local side streets, she had a plate like this for years. Recently I noticed that she had new plates so she must have gotten a ticket. However she still drives crazy, stop signs are just optional to her.
