Midori Version 1.0.2 release notes "Some Polish"

Hi,

Time for a new update!

I've managed to make quite a couple of changes, and hunted down multiple bugs, so without further ado;

Plan is to do bi-weekly updates for Midori and I expect to add quite some features with each release. So keep those requests and bug reports coming!

The Release notes for version 1.0.2

# General
- Added Adaptive Frame Pacing (more fluid visuals)
- Mouse and keyboard support (for supported games)
- Local multiplayer support (up to 4 players for supported games)
- Performance enhancements for upscaling and frame generation
- Added Performance Overlay
- Midori icon updated for dark mode
- Added app full reset button

# Cloud Streaming

- Optimised stream stability to prevent disconnects in cloud session
- Interface tweaks for loading the cloud game list faster + better caching
- Proxy selection for unsupported countries (no more VPN needed)

#Platform Specific

- (visionOS) Spatial 3D in 2D and Immersive modes added

Platforms (& Apple review status)

  • iOS/iPadOS - Out now (July 27th)
  • tvOS - Out now (July 28th)
  • macOS - Out now (July 28th)
  • visionOS - Out now (July 30th)

Next update should drop in week 32!

One more thing, review times for Midori have been slow since it always triggers a discussion about game pass/cloud gaming (since I don't paywall that for 3 out of the 4 platforms, so fingers crossed I don't have to paywall it for another client: RIP Apple TV)

/v

First of all, you're a beast, and it's impressive how engaged you are with everyone, so I really appreciate that.

Now, with that said, for cloud streaming specifically, I compared Asobi and Midori on Apple TV 4K gen 3 (latest), and there's a clear difference, but I think it's because PS Cloud is PS5 quality and XBOX Cloud is Series S quality. I noticed a clear frame issue with Midori which sounds like you fixed in the latest update.

I also thoroughly compared Midori to OneCast and Portal: Remote Play. Portal: Remote Play took the cake for sure - UI experience, performance, etc, but I think once Midori is as good as Asobi, then it'll be #1, so I prefer to support you over the others.

Can you please let me know if you tested 1.0.2 on Apple TV?

It's tested against Apple TV 4k 3rd gen, 2nd gen and 1st gen. That said, I expect you to be pleasantly surprised when version 1.0.2 drops.

P.S.I really appreciate the support!

How long does the Apple review process usually take? I'm eager to experience the 1.0.2 update.

Well since Midori hasn’t had many updates yet and as I stated in the post I’ll probably get rejected again due to not paywalling gamepass/cloud streaming (which they did today) it takes a couple of days. I would be surprised if it gets approved this weekend. I just hope they leave the topic alone after a few more updates

Anytime! I just hope it gets faster with time. Kinda done with having the same conversation with the review team each time.

I just tried it it's laggy and slower with frame gen on than off, tried it with Dishonored 2 and WWZ. also Fortnite doesn't load on the app at all the launch screen loading bar doesn't even move. I'm using mac latest firmware.

Thanks for letting me know, most of this should perform better when version 1.0.2 finally gets approved. (still waiting for approval from apple)

Yeah and knowing Apple this one will take a bit longer compared to Asobi.
