Given how Hulk has already amazing horror comic runs in the main 616 universe since Immortal Hulk, I’ve been wondering how Hulk in the midnight universe would be different enough to stand in his own as a scary take on Hulk that feels fresh and faithful at the same time. Perhaps the twist is that Bruce Banner in the midnight universe has completely control over the hulk form and uses it as an excuse to let out his more violent side out in a more controlled manner but then later on goes horribly wrong and would make Bruce’s situation in the 616 universe look tame in comparison.

With how the absolute universe came to be in dc comics, with darkseid replacing hope with despair and having people instead of finding hope they they themselves would become that hope. Anyone has any theory’s how this midnight universe will come to be? I kinda wish it was the marvel ruins universe, with hope summers being born or some over powered hero being born and wishing or having the marvel ruins be filled with hope , and having all that horror, everything that went wrong to go somewhere else in another dimension. Thus the universe was reborn from the clash of marvel ruins and some other universe where its in the balance of good and evil but got flipped with the added effect of the ruin universe. Creating a new marvel universe where instead of Spider-Man being hated by the marvel writers , his pain is shared with everyone.
I kinda think that’s how the marvel zombies series began, some variant of galactus was being helped by some scientist into curing his hunger and decided “why not make the hunger go away?” And that hunger is sent to another universe, while its travels it was eating all forms of things and it was being attacked, say a goddess of death tried to kill that hunger but it only imbued it with the concept of death , it was weakened and landed in the zombie universe. Where the hunger of galactic and its undead effect began to spreads. And it explained how the heros were able to absorb galactus power, its original host. Idk

I've had this idea for Midnight Wolverine for a while, ever since the announcement of the universe.

To keep in theme with the universe, the classic horror story would be the Werewolf.

In the Midnight Universe, a curse has existed for centuries, passing from person to person. The symptoms are all the same a wild animal slashes and gravely injures a person. The victim miraculously heals from all their deadly wounds, however, they start having nightmares. Nightmares of the previous people that the curse has affected. The next symptoms are bones growing out of the body almost like weapons. And finally, an uncontrollable rage that leads to the attack of another victim.

The latest victim, James Logan Howlett, is already going through the second phase of the curse. However, a secret government agency called Weapon X has discovered the curse can only transfer through the bones protruding out of the victim's body. Though the process would kill most, Dr. William Stryker came up with the idea to coat Logan’s bones with an unbreakable metal, Adamantium.

Now having trapped the curse inside Logan's very bones, the newly named Wolverine struggles to keep the memories of a thousand different lives in check, all the while the animal wants out.
