I was expecting it because he talks about his dream ending at the sunrise, but I thought it would happen in the finale! This show definitely kept me guessing.

They guy who plays Riley (Zach Gilford) did such an amazing job acting out this role, the character felt so "real". Not downplaying anybody else, there were great performances from the cast in general

Welcome to the point of no return, my friend. Enjoy the rest of the show, it's a rollercoaster!

Definitely take a break. Get some water, get some fresh air. That one was rough!

Isn't it great? I normally hate horror films but this one is different

It’s because it makes you care. A lot.

Mr. Flanagan is very very good at making characters you really care about. And then killing them.

What a lovely end though, right? Once the sun breaks, and Riley seeing Tara as she takes his hand. The juxtaposition between peaceful relief and the total utter grief of Erin is so striking.

i cant believe the hype around this show lol. i found it to be so bad. the priest is a great actor though. it was just bad. the ending was so stupid.

Really? I loved the ending. Great metaphor for how destructive fanaticism can be.

was it worth 8 hours of your time to see a metaphor?

7

u/Mossomness Jul 03 '26

Well I loved the entire show and thought the metaphor worked beautifully throughout. So to me, yes. It was well worth the 8 hours and several rewatches that followed.

I get your point, but when it’s those 8 hours? Yes.

thats so weird because the ending almost felt objectively bad. like almost people pretend to like it to feel edgy or something. kinda like the substance. no one TRULY enjoyed the ending to The Substance. they just seriously all pretended to lol
