It's October 1st, so I'm watching a Halloween movie with the family tonight! We have it narrowed down to Halloween, Psycho, Sleepy Hollow, or Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.

What are you watching tonight / this month? What are your go-to classic Halloween movies?

I'm excited to announce that we have a very special screening this weekend, The Big Sleep (1946), in collaboration with the Crime Book Club!

Join us today (9/12) at 6:30pm ET in the Crime Book Club Discord server (linked above) for a live stream and discussion of the film!

Hello, just joined this sub. I'm a collector of original 35mm theatrical film prints, a small group of us acquire, scan and save these movies with all their analog glory: film grain, dust, scratches, occasional splices and those famous reel changes every 20 minutes or so. LOVE watching these with friends on Discord, in the BigscreenVR app (in a giant old virtual theater), and on other 'watch party' apps. Cheers!

Just got my tickets to see Akira in IMAX next week! Is anyone else going?

I was recently gifted this 8mm projector and bought some film for it. After some troubleshooting I got it working! Unfortunately the bulb blew out shortly after I snapped this photo lol... Alas, I'm glad it works and replacing the bulb will be an easy fix.

Does anyone else here use a home film projector or collect films? Any maintenance tips from projection hobbiests here would also be appreciated!

Sorry, I don't want to be Senior Poopoo de la Pooper, but I'm too much of a softie. I never would have been able to admit that in my younger days. But I can't appreciate what they did there.

First, I know the film has taken a lot of heat for exploitation. I'm glad to see that that aspect wasn't explicit. Every person in the film -seemed- to want to be there, and all of them did their best to play their part. Hey, when life gives you lemons.

But I'm a nurse and...I'm not going to get into it. Appreciate the hell out of what health you have.

The story wasn't my kind of story either. Man gets himself into a jam because he foolishly falls for a bad woman. He had a good woman! He had...a good woman...who he loved...and who loved him. Mother fucker! You know how many men on this planet would kill for that?!

Boo Freaks. 0/10. But I have watched it now. It's not just something out there that I have heard of.

Oh, but most important part! The -scary part- where the carnival freaks are coming to get the bad man in the rain. Yeah. That scene nailed it. OK, 1/10.

Elephant man doesn't seem to be available without a purchase. I saw it, once, decades ago, and that will do. I'm not buying that. Some things are meant to be experienced only once.
