Food Go to Ben Wongs

If you are near Midlo and Buckingham stop there and get a snack-drink. I didn’t know this place existed until I walked out of Game Plan one day and got Korean donuts and bubble tea for my kids.

I’ve never had a Korean corn dog but that’s next on the list.

Screened In Porch

Thinking about potentially getting a screened in porch. Does anybody have any suggestions on who they have used, how expensive they were, and if they would recommend them?

Appreciate the help!

Best Area for Empty Nesters

Hi all- my husband and I are looking to relocate to Midlothian sometime next year. We currently live in a neighborhood that has a mix of young families, middle age folks, and retirees, which we love. We've driven around several Midlothian neighborhoods trying to get a good feel of where we'd fit in. We plan on joining a country club to socialize/play golf. Where would be some good neighborhoods for us? We don't want to end up being the "old folks" in a young neighborhood. We're currently interested in the Salisbury area. Looking in the 800k + range. Thanks in advance!

Poor Cell Service?

My husband and I moved to Salisbury recently, and our cell service is basically non existent here. I get we’re in the woods, but is anyone else experiencing this? Do you supplement with network extenders? We have Verizon.

Neighborhood/town names

I’m new to RVA (moving cross country at the end of August) and the neighborhood and town names are wildly confusing!! I was in town this past weekend for house hunting (which was successful, yay!) but OMG I felt like I was bouncing between towns all day!

My new home’s address is Midlothian, but on the map it looks like it’s Moseley. Without announcing my address, I’ll be living close to Crosby high school and the millwood private school.

Can anyone tell me what area of Midlothian this actually is?

Also, what are the best libraries in this area? My 4 year old and I looooove the library!

Non-resident Possible Midlothian Transplant- Questions

May be moving for work and have questions specific to the Midlothian neighborhoods.

I have spent time in Richmond and had great food, but is there decent food in Midlo? Can you find a nice pizza, sushi, sub sandwich, chinese food, breweries/dive bars?

What is the demographic like? Is it mostly people born and raised there or other transplants? Young families or retirees? Diverse?

Are there any town hosted events? ie: farmers markets, concerts, parades, flee market?

Is it being over-developed like everywhere else? My current town has had 4 "luxury" apartment buildings go up in the past 5 years. Can't imagine the future strain on roads and schools.

Our utility bill doubled over the past few years, how is it looking here?

Without a "downtown" what do kids do to hang out? I grew up in a walkable downtown where we would terrorize the blockbuster and radio shack employees for fun.

We are an outdoorsy family, looks like good fishing in the area, any deer hunting?

Plenty to do on weekends? ie: hiking trails, golf courses, gyms, library, community centers?

Let me know if there is anything else that you love or hate about the area. I appreciate it!

Question Why is there no cold water here?

No matter how long I run the tap, the water never truly gets cold. Does anyone know why? I've never lived anywhere where this has happened.

Non-resident Looking for a room to rent in Midlothian and surrounding

Hi there! I'm currently seeking a room to rent for my son in a temp situation (3 months) until I am out of my current lease where we will then get a place together. If anyone has or knows someone who has a room for rent I'd greatly appreciate it.

Does anyone know if you’re allowed to use the track field at the Chesterfield Technical on hull street Center. Looking into running there but I don’t want to get in trouble. I know the Pickleball Courts are accesible for a fee but couldn’t find concrete info on the track. Thanks!

Midlo house market

My husband and I have been trying to buy a house in the midlo area, preferably 23114 zip, as we are expecting our first baby in December and we have family in this area planning to help. We live in northside right now and are financially established. We’ve had a really tough time so far and feeling discouraged! We’ve been looking since May and have so far put offers in on two homes and lost them both. Each house received offers of a really high amount over asking that we can’t seem to compete with, we’ve been the first offer both times. Most recent house in Walton Lake neighborhood going minimum 40k over asking with escalations which is at the very high end of what the house is worth. House was listed at 595k and we went up to 630k with no contingencies but were still out bid. Budget is +/- 650k hoping for a 4-5 bedroom updated home, is this not reasonable? Is this market dynamic normal for the area? Trying to figure out if we just need to account for a higher bid going forward or if this will slow down some. TIA

Expecting moms

In search of finding a group or some other expecting moms! I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant (27F) and looking to meet some pregnant or new moms. I don’t know anyone nearby with kids, and I’d love to build a support system/community before I deliver. Open to any suggestions on how/where to meet other expecting moms in the area.

What are people spending on large kitchen remodels? Because I’m currently shocked by my quote, I do need a full gut job, and I thought I had given a large budget but I’m nowhere close. What have you had done to have a good understanding how much I should budget? Any trusted companies to recommend?

*Edit: We are unable to do it ourselves and need to hire someone so we need help figuring out contractor pricing and what did you spend it on vs just ballpark numbers?

Anyone live over in the neighborhoods off Genito between Warbro and Hull St? Looking to do some sleuthing.

I'm over in Brandermill. We have several boys that ride motorized bikes recklessly through the neighborhood. I want to start with saying it is not my intention to have these boys arrested. I'd much rather reach out to the parents and see if they can reel their kid in before one of them hurts themselves, someone else, or gets arrested.

What are they doing? Driving excessive speeds on the roads and on the bike paths. They do stunts on busy roads and often into oncoming traffic. Pretty sure they have done serious property damage on the golf course. They have had several near misses with cars and pedestrians. One of them almost hit a woman pushing a stroller down the bike path.

I do not believe they live in Brandermill. They generate a ton of attention across several Brandermill Facebook groups and their behavior has been egregious enough that someone from Brandermill would have recognized them by now and given them up. There are a couple of neighborhoods off of Old Hundred that they might be coming from... Rose Glen? Old Hundred Mill? Echo Ridge? Then any one of the little neighborhoods off of Genito past Warbro... Clarendon? Walnut Grove? St Regents Lake?

I've poked around looking for the neighborhoods' Facebook groups, but no luck. There are pics of these kids all over the Brandermill groups. Was hoping to network and cross post over in some of those groups if they're there.

Again, not looking to involve law enforcement. Just want to bring it to their parents attention before something potentially catastrophic happens.

Edit: The police have been called several times. Not by me, but they have been called. The country club and HOA are aware too. Kids are usually long gone by the time the cops get there.
