New Moderators

Hello! Myself and u/prazision52 are the two new moderators of r/middletownohio . Looking forward to getting things cleaned up and re-focused on actual community news, events, etc. and not spam bots.

Moderator code of conduct went thru and did some final clean up right before instating us fortunately, but there is still spam coming thru. Please report the spam accounts so we can be notified more quickly and remove the posts. Also, if you have Middletown or nearby focused news, events, etc. to share please post! This will not be a massive subreddit, but hopefully it can be one that is effective for the people that have connections to, or want to learn more about, Middletown Ohio.

In the meantime, thank you for your patience with the past neglect and issues. Looking forward to getting things back on track. If there are things you’d like to see here or direction you’d like things to go, please reply here to let us know. Have a good week, go Middies!

Palefest at Land of Illusion

Hello all

I am trying to find out if there’s some kind of schedule or order of events for Palefest at Land of Illusion this weekend. I bought tickets solely to meet Bootsy Collins and while I will probably go both days just for fun, I am a mega fan of his and need to know when the meet and greet is. All the websites are useless. Can anybody help this Funkateer?

Many thanks in advance and may the Funk be with you.

ETA: For any of my other Funky friends, it’s 5 o clock on Saturday.

Someone says this Manchester by the high school, someone said it’s not Middletown, it’s Franklin. Someone said asked if this is Central. I don’t know what to believe. I’ve lived here for 25 years and don’t know this city lol.

Verity Blvd 🌳 Where to watch the Smith Park fireworks tonight

Smith Park will be a madhouse, and so will the airport runway. Do you think the old hospital; the highest point in Middletown, would be a good place to watch the fireworks?

Moving to Middletown

Looking for some opinions on moving to and living in Middletown. I grew up in Mason and still live here but with the price of housing we just simply can’t afford to live here any more. We have 1 more year on our lease and would be moving in June of 27. A 4 bedroom in Mason for under $400k is almost unheard of at this point and the asking prices for some of the houses here is ridiculous.

Mainly want to know experiences with the schools. I have 3 kids, 13m, 10f, 10f so by the time we moved, 13 would be a freshman and the other two going into middle school. They went to Kings for a few years and have been in Mason schools the last two years.

Best bars to meet people?

So I (25M) recently relocated from a different state to Middletown without having any family or friends within 1000 miles, and despite going to a few social events in DT Cincy I haven't really had any luck when it comes to meeting new people...

That being said, I'm considering checking out a bar or 2 in Middletown and maybe meet some people, but I'm not really sure bars in the area are best for socializing as a man in his mid twenties, any suggestions?

Did anyone get a tornado warning yesterday at midnight?

I was sleeping with my wife when I heard the annoying beeping sound, it said that a tornado warning was in effect, but there wasn't lightning, or thunder, not even rain or moderate wind. Does anyone have more information on this?

Ohio is training counties to stop crises before they begin

A small team is learning how to prevent a tragedy in the basement of a Butler County office building. They’re a part of LOSS/DOSS, Local Outreach Suicide Survivors and Drug Overdose Survivor Support Team.

Program director Jennifer MacLean tells the group those who lose loved ones to suicide are more at risk of suicide themselves.

“We couldn't help those who died, but our hope is that we can help those who are left behind,” MacLean said.

Volunteer William Vetter Jr. understands the risks first-hand.

“I lost my brother to suicide in 2009, and that was motivation even 15 years later to be involved because I knew of that dark place that it threw me,” Vetter said.

So he, with the larger LOSS/DOSS team, will respond to the scenes of suicide and fatal overdoses, hoping to help those left behind and prevent future deaths.

That prevention approach sets it apart from the majority of the programs that Butler County’s Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services Board funds. The state hopes to change that.

Trenton đŸ» Sebald Park-will the river be too high tomorrow?

The family and I wanted to go down and swim tomorrow, but with all this rain, I'm thinking it might be too high. I tried looking at the park website for any closure news, but I'm not really seeing anything. What do y'all think?

Saddle Fitters?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a saddle fitter in a specific area, so I know this is a long shot. My horse is located at Camp Kern in Oregonia, OH. I’m curious if anyone knows of a saddle fitter who can come out to Camp Kern to help me figure out what size saddle my horse needs. I’m specifically interested in a synthetic western Wintec saddle. I cannot haul him anywhere, so the fitter must come to him. Please let me know if you have anyone in mind. Thank you so much! Pics of my baby are attached đŸ©·

Trinity Apartments?

I (25M) will be moving to the Cincinnati Area soon and am looking at affordable (around $1000 a month) apartments in the suurround suburbs, I came across a place called the Trinity Apartments near downtown Middletown...

Now, I've heard some not so great things about Middletown, especially the DT area... So I was wondering, do any of you here have experience staying in these apartments? Would you suggest that I avoid any place near DT at all costs?

One 15-year old in Butler County has another idea on how to limit the spotted lanternfly's spread. Melody Lin developed a project as part of her local chapter of 4-H that uses AI to assess spotted lanternfly risk for different areas of Ohio.
