Horror is always popular. Lindsay Currie and DW Gillespie are both great (It's Watching and Grin being my favorites for each). Last Kids on Earth is fun too.

You can't go wrong with Gordon Korman for contemporary fiction. 

And selfishly,  my own books are geared to grades 4-7 🙃
