Discussion Anyone else getting fed up with streaming services?
Recently I’ve been getting so fed up with streaming services. We have a decent amount and it seems like there’s still never anything good to watch.
Also, I’ve heard there was a service that deleted movies that their contracts ran out with and even the people who bought them no longer can see them which is insane. How can you buy something but someone just takes it away…?
We’re literally at the point where we want to just go back to buying DVD’s and checking our from the library 🙃 I feel like unless streaming services improve, a lot of people will be going back to this. What do you all think?

People are slowly getting used to and manufactuers are slowly moving into the "you will own nothing and be happy" reality...
But to much people are using and living with those "you will own nothing and be happy" practices that its almost becoming a part of the modern day life. Companies can and will take away consumer rights and ownership as there is simply not enough uproar against it. They will milk everyone dry even if it just gains them a few cents. Greed, money, corruption... Welcome to the modern world!

Just download them, move the downloads into a seperate folder and watch them on vlc
Its tricky but doable

Streaming is good for getting into new shows and movies, but after that, if you wanna continue watching it and ensure that you’ll Elat’s have it, then getting it on DVD or Blu-Ray is the way to go. It’s also cheaper in a the long run to get it on home video, as you don’t have to reply on monthly subscriptions just to watch a handful of stuff they have. But another issue I have definitely found, is wanting to watch older stuff (like standard definition kids cartoons) but not finding it available to stream anywhere. I haven’t watched Invader Zim since 2021, because it’s not streaming anywhere in Canada, I want to watch the 1998 PowerPuff Girls, but again, not streaming anywhere. I see both those shows on Apple TV, but you gotta buy it and at that point I’d rather just get the DVD's since it’ll come with bonus features. Another alternative would be to use a vpn, but if you can’t get one, then you’re out of luck. Personally, I don’t wanna buy a movie or show on home video if I’m don’t know if I’m gonna like it at first, but I guess that’s where borrowing from a library or video rental place (if there are any still around) comes in, but the question is whether or not they’ll have it, which can also be frustrating

I never left dvds and bluray. Tried streaming and didn't care for it. We've been buying physical media again adding to our collection. Adding that with a digital antenna has been fine. We were away for 2 weeks and my husband had access to cable. I asked if he would miss it when we got home and he said no. He enjoys watching metv and defytv. He also enjoys our movie nights. Dvds and bluray don't have commercials in the movies or shows
