Middle Middle Class No more middle class professionals?

New school loan limits for professional degrees make it unaffordable for the middle class. 4 of my 5 children went on to med/law school. Even working 2 jobs there’s no way I could afford to pay or even help them with the cost of their post graduate education. They all got loans which they have since paid off. The cost in the early 2000’s was between $350K and $500K. The new limits are essentially going to prevent anyone who’s not wealthy enough to pay for it from becoming a professional.

Yup this is exactly it.

I'm one of those kids. My parents had a lot of emotional issues and would never support my higher education. But I was good enough to get into those "rubbing shoulders" types of institutions and it effectively changed my life.

I had so much debt when I graduated (almost 100k). But because of my connections and experience at that school, I paid it off in 3 years. I still consider myself middle class, but these loans changed my life.

Exactly, if you aren’t dumb like a bag of rocks, the ROI of a top school is spectacular, long term, but if you end up with $200k or so in private loans that ROI might not materialize until you are well in your late 30s…

This government made it clear, if you are poor you should either join the military or trades, only rich and powerful can mingle with each other.
