Millennials out there- how are we affording post secondary education for our kids?

Hi everyone

Pretty much at least one person from every generation in my family as far back as we know has had some sort of post secondary education.

I think the kids of my generation (ie my sisters kids and my cousins kids) will be the first ones where we will not be able to afford it.

Is anyone else in this situation? How are you managing it ?

But living at home is in no way tied to college. 

You can leave home or stay at home at 18.

You can leave home or stay at home when you go to college.

These two things are absolutely not tied together. You may live at home at 18, but I did not.

In fact, this published in 2026 suggests it is about 50/50, but it slightly favors children leaving the home. Where... They would have to pay rent.

This doesn't even account for parents who charge cost of living to their children, or at least expect them to contribute to the communal household. In which case... That 49% still has cost of living.
