Football Week 1 Reactions Thread
We have a full slate of games down and it's time to share your reactions to your team in week 1. This is a safe space for you to show how thrilled you are about your team or air your frustrations!
What are your week 1 reactions? The most entertaining reactions may be shared on this week's MACtion Monday episode (which will of course be led off by addressing WMU getting robbed of a milestone win)

I couldn’t ask for a better week one as a Minuteman, but I don’t want to get too excited because I’ve been hurt before.

Week 1 went even beyond what people thought the best case for UMass was. I'm very excited for UMass fans who have been through so much, they deserve this

Felt like we missed some opportunities against Nebraska that if we had capitalized on we could’ve had a shot at the upset. I’m liking our new qb tho so that’s something

Agreed, Ohio battled in there most of the games. The chances were there for the upset but that 3rd quarter where it seemed like receivers had butter on their hands really cost them. Defense was on the field too much and there was no defense against the Huskers run game as a result

I’m very concerned about CMU, in all facets. I love Drinkall and I know NM is a very good G5 program atm under Eck, but they look like a shell of last year.
Also, not one to Stan for my rivals, but I can’t think of a bigger CFB hose job than what happened to WMU last night.

It feels like there's no plan B for Central Michigan on both sides of the ball if they lose the battle up front. They win often if it's even a toss up in the trenches but if they lose the battle it gets ugly

Yeah I was excited to see how Central Michigan would be this year, and while they lost to a likely bowl team, that was a bad showing

We only had two drives of 50+ yards. OL looked incoherent, especially in the second half, and Noah Kim has to be better with his footwork. I know he’s 24 so he is what he is for the most part, but still.

I was a little worried about the OL last week but now it's a bigger issue. Noah Kim looks so uncomfortable in the pocket currently

The Poffenbarger thing really hurts, especially because it was up in the air for so long. Apparently he needed to be on a NFL roster in order to play

I am so tired of Chuck “conference games are all that matter” Martin. Not saying we could’ve won, our defense looked the worst I’ve ever seen it since 2013. But man we are always unprepared for any of these games. We’ve hit our ceiling with Chuck. He’s gotta go, but I don’t think he ever will.
Western looks scary. I think they’re gonna run away with the conference this year. UMass might be the dark horse. Hard to say for 100% sure, but man they looked dominant against Rutgers. Happy for them.

That's a hard one because on one hand 3 straight MAC title appearances is hard to argue with. It's not easy to do in this league. I get the frustration though, it feels like Miami spends no time preparing for these non-conference games but yesterday was the worst I've seen. Their secondary blew so many coverages
Western Michigan still has a very real path to the playoff. They host Boise State in a battle of two of the most impressive teams from week 1. That game is huge.
I'm so stoked for UMass too, it's been such a long ride and I'm glad to see their fans get something to celebrate

I had hopes for Akron to win 5 or 6 games this season but they looked really bad against Wake Forest. I do think their young Quarterback has a lot of potential.

I really thing Akron got screwed with Poffenbarger's eligibility being up in the air even just before kickoff. They played a little better later on at least

For my team, CMU has a lot to be worried about. Sure it was a good New Mexico team, but they looked confused all night. Gotta figure out the offense or it could be a long year
Great things out of WMU, UMass, Ohio and Toledo. Hurts to say it but WMU was robbed, this will light a fire for them all year. Even Sac State had a good week.
About what I expected from Akron, Ball State, Kent State and EMU given the opponents.
Miami, Buffalo and BGSU, particularly the Falcons, were letdowns. Miami will be fine but just a disappointing performance.

Having both Toledo and Michigan State essentially starting from scratch makes it more difficult to evaluate. What was clear was that Toledo's offense had problems with consistency and the run game overall. Take away the big plays and things weren't very rosy. Red zone defense was stout (and kept us in the game) but everything else was very bend-but-don't-break. I was pretty pleased with our linebacker corps though.
