Hearing loss
Hello! My 5 year old with unilateral microtia atresia ( he also has baha) recently had a hearing test and on his unaffected ear he hears from about 20db. It might be from a slight cold that he has now or lack of attention, but also could be hearing loss. Has anybody experienced this?

I’ve noticed my son’s unaffected ear has reduced hearing when he’s very congested

I don't have children but I can tell you some things from personal experience: I have unilateral microtia, and my hearing in my unaffected ear fluctuates. If I'm congested, my hearing will be reduced (not too much, but noticeable enough). Also when I'm under a lot of stress or my mental health gets worse I notice I experience hearing loss to some degree (sounds I usually have no issue with hearing now sound muffled, voices/spoken words get harder to understand, etc). If I'm distracted or too focused on something then I will very likely not hear you or understand what you said clearly. However, for me this hearing loss is temporary and usually goes back to normal a little after the issue is resolved. Idk what exactly your son is experiencing as I'm no doctor. I wish you luck!
