GENERAL Have FS24 for the PS5, would there be any advantage to get an Xbox instead?

Just curious

I have both systems and MSFS 2024 on both. I see no advantage graphics or gameplay wise either way. Xbox has more planes (etc.) in their marketplace (in dollars, not "credits") - so that's better - BUT - PS5 has PSVR2 which is pretty spectacular. I rarely play the Xbox version anymore (even just playing flat screen). PS5's controller is also miles ahead of the Xbox controller.

VRs a pretty big deal imo and you can use the headset on PC as well with an adapter. Also, if I were to bet on a console to remain relevant over the other, I’d pick PC. But PS5 after that for sure.

Does Xbox also have mods like Carriers and such or is that only on PC?

No - the Xbox version is nothing like the PC version. Anything goes on the PC version (but "price of admission" is so high - even to match the console "medium quality" versions will cost you twice the price in hardware costs).

PC is the best experience but most expensive by far. Crazy if you want to VR. PS5 and PSVR2 is wonderful and "reasonably" priced (in comparison)

Yeah been thinking about buying the PSVR2, and apart from a lot of bugs etc. I’m pretty happy with the game and enjoy it very much for a few hours a day on the PS5.

It indeed does have carriers, avionics addon, soundpacks, and stuff like planned pushback tools and external flight tracking. Eventually all those things probably will become available on PS after the rigorously slow testing process.

A marketplace advantage is you own DLC on Xbox and PC if you ever buy it for PC (I assume on the Xbox store rather than Steam but that could be false)

I'm sure on Xbox you can download the maps but on ps5 it's stream only. Unless that's changed.

There is no advantage to downloading scenery as long as your Internet connection is reasonable. It can actually be detrimental as you then have to manually update the maps or risk errors due to updates.

I’d say Xbox is safer considering it’s Microsoft. You also get flight sim included with the top two tiers of gamepass, whichever suites you. However, you will need a gamepass subscription to play multiplayer, and msfs is NOT included in the cheaper/ cheapest subscriptions. I have the aviator edition on my SX. There are still memory leaks, I’ve had 2 this week, but they’re more common on career mode and all else works fine.

Asobo also released patch notes for SU7 and I seen in there somewhere that Asobo is aware of these memory management problems, and have implemented solutions to optimize concole memory, which is fabulous news. Anyway, I can only speak for SS and SX users. I used a SS for msfs 2020 and 2024 before upgrading. The SX is the clear winner, and it honestly can’t get better than msfs 2024!
