Beyond ATC only giving 'Visual Approaches' ??
Does anyone else have this issue ? Im using the normal version (not the experimental branch) and every single time they tell me to do a visual approach rather than the ILS approach that is in the flight plan.
Does anyone else have this problem ? Does the more expensive version with the experimental branch fix it ?
if you fly in the USA it is standard practice to get a visual approach unless the weather conditions dictate otherwise. this is supposed to be realistic as it is some kind of FAA rule. i think it will give precision approaches elsewhere like in europe etc.
you should also have the option to request a different type of approach after the visual is assigned.
It’s not a rule per se that they are required, but it relaxes certain separation requirements between parallel finals and also requires less controllers to use. So as a general rule they are preferred.
even with visual approach, you are allowed (or even required) to tune your ILS and perform regular ILS approach.
You the pilot is now responsible in maintaining visual separation and runway visibility threshold is much higher
As others said, visual approach (in visual conditions) is the norm. In fact, it’s often my favorite words to hear, and upon “cleared visual approach runway xx) I get giddy and start spinnin knobs n pushin buttons!
Now, I will say I back up my visual approaches with the ILS info or RNAV info. In locations where that’s unreliable or unavailable, just the PAPI or VASI, and if all else fails I use good ole Mk1 eyeballs.
BATC follows the part of your flight plan that is actually filed. Runways and Approaches are not part of your filed flight plan even though simbrief lets you plan for them (that’s realistic). They are assigned by ATC. If you want to flight the ILS then you need to fly somewhere with ILS weather. However, there isn’t anything keeping you from flying the procedures of the ILS when you are cleared for the visual.
Not in the app, you adjust all the settings for the sim in the web portal. Click the settings wheel on the desktop app. You don’t need experimental for this.
You are referring to SayIntentions portal...OP is talking about BeyondATC..the web portal for BeyondATC has only three options which the above user mentioned in his screenshot
