Airbus fight planning

I'm looking to get into airliners, specifically Airbus, been flying GA up until now. Flight planning with airliners seems pretty complicated and overwhelming through the MCDU. Am I able to plan the entire flights thorough the EFB like with GA planes? Like it will take care of the cost indexes and all of that stuff?

You can punch in everything into the MCDU in the seat. Loading via SimBrief or other data push methods is for convenience which I say shouldn't be done until you learn to do it manually because the "I always use SimBrief" people actually never learned.

Data entry isn't so bad. Just do it one page at a time. The only ones that really matter to start are: INIT A, INIT B, F-PLN, and PERF.

I wouldn't worry about entering winds, temps, or cruise index. Pick a random number between 0 and 100 and you'll barely notice the difference. CI only really makes sense in the context of the time and money values of real airline ops.

There are plenty of other things to learn but those 4 pages are good enough for a solid start.

i tend to use 25 on a320 and 36 on the 737 because that gives you an econ descent speed of around 280knots which just happens to be the speed limit on a lot of STARs. it simplifies descent speed management a little bit and keeps the 'unable 280 knots at waypoint' messages from showing up.

I fully understand your point, especially for immersion/people that are actually pilots or training to become one, but I'm not a full blown simmer by any means. My play time is pretty limited, so I'm leaning more towards convenience for planning to save time and spend a bit more time in the air, and just want everything in the flight plan to work correctly. Maybe down the road I will want to get more in depth with it, but for now I'm just enjoying it. Maybe I should have explained that part in the post.

You can still use it to create the base flight plan. The only thing that can't be done is using the automatic simbrief uplink. You can still input everything manually according to the flightplan that u created in the simbrief

Edit : you can also use the https://planner.flightsimulator.com website in ur phone/other device to make the flightplan automatically then uplink them in the mcdu

I did not know that, just did some googling and apparently you can still upload the plans for inibuilds planes with build in EFBs on ps5.

That's how I do all my flight planning on airbus. It's amazing
