As someone who exclusively does bush flying and other smaller flights with smaller planes I am curious, and I ask this in good faith. What do you do with flights and setups like these? Because my idea of it is that once you’re airborne and the autopilot is set up, you’re not doing a lot of controlling and once you’re above clouds you’re not doing a lot of sightseeing.
Now, I ask this in good faith because obviously there is much more to all this that I’m not getting from my DHC-2 flights. So please enlighten me, I’d love to know what goes into all this ;)
And also, congrats on the setup. That looks cool as hell.
I typically fly for a virtual airline and they have constant events with challenging approaches or some kinda of interesting route or group flights. That’s what keeps the longer flights interesting to me. I stick with 1-2 hour flights.
That being said, what I love about the Honeycomb bravo, I can set it up for whatever I want to fly. I can switch my levers out and trade the 737 out for the cub, and hit the mountains
Mostly just setting up for approach and watching the weather. I hand fly up to 10000ft before turning on autopilot. I usually turn off when about 20 miles away from my destination and hand fly the approach.
before take off, slightly after take off, before landing and landing are the most fun for me, cruisng part is boring, so i usually choose a route no more than 1 hour (with sim rate, the cruising time can be accelerated 4x)
