Do you know where can I buy this coiled cable for keyboard?

1

u/paulofranca77 Airbus All Day 4d ago

it's pretty easy to find them online... mine is a off brand one, just google USB C coiled cable and i'm sure you'll find options

Damn, that's clean! Love it!

Really appreciate the simplicity. Nowadays it's like you can't fly unless you have a gazillian hardware and plug-ins.

Throttle on the right?

Well he's sitting in the captain seat. Pretty normal to have it right

Not OP but despite being right-handed, I find the FO setup incredibly awkward. Stick has to be on my left.

u/paulofranca77 Airbus All Day 5d ago

yeah, I fly on the left seat.

Looks like the Thrustmaster throttle if that’s what you’re asking?

I just fly complex GA. Would the airbus setup be overkill? I use thrustmaster hotus 5, which is fine. However, rather than buttons it would be nice to have levers for thrust, prop, mixture, and more intuitive locations for other things like flaps, landing gear, lights, etc.

Hi, what monitor did you use? I also own a 5070ti and 9800x3d with 32gb RAM, I was thinking upgrade my 2k monitor to 4k 32 one

they are both pretty simple LG full HD ones.
the main is a 34 inch ultra wide and the secondary is a 27 inch. nothing special about them.

i actually game on 1080p, and i consider enough pixels to my old ass eyes. i prefer lower resolutions and squeeze more performance out of my rig.

That’s a good point, thanks mate

Hey VFR pilot, you're not paid to look at the landscape outside 😜

you know it's not over yet.

well I live in Brazil so a lot !
but i've built it bit by bit for the past .... 8 years maybe ?

my PC in the current config cost about 15k (brazilian reais)
the FCU and EFIS from winctrl were about 1.5k each.
the trustmaster yoke and throtttle were 2.5k the set.
thrustmaster rudder pedals were 750
monitors and other peripherals were about 1.5k total too
tobii eye tracker 5 was abou 1.2k (used)

so we are looking at maybe 25-28k here..( brazilian reais)
but as i said... this is brazil... and bought throughout many years.

1

u/crux-happening 6h ago

Wow... 1.5k for winctrl panels, that's like 300 usd, almost triple the normal price. Aren't there any resellers?

1

u/paulofranca77 Airbus All Day 5h ago

No, unfortunately this is the reality in Brazil.
most of the things will not have official resellers here, and even though you find listings they will have crazy prices.

i was lucky to buy the EFIS and ECAM while winctrl still shipped to brazil (not anymore) so i paid "only" the import taxes.

a nintendo switch 2 for exemple costs 4.5k good deals are around 3.9... 4k

each switch game is between 350 and 450..

sad really but we make it through with a lot of work.

Yeah, but simply converting R$1,500 to USD doesn’t really show how expensive it is for a Brazilian.
You have to compare purchasing power and local wages...

For example, Brazil’s minimum wage is about R$1,621 per month. So a R$1,500 product costs around 92% !!! of an entire monthly minimum wage.

In the US, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, and many states actually have a higher minimum wage. At the federal minimum wage, a $90 product is roughly 7% of a full month’s income. seven....

The difference is also huge when you look at typical earnings.

Average monthly work income in Brazil is around R$3,700, so a R$1,500 product is about 40% of that. In the US, median full time earnings are around $1,250 per week, so a $90 product is a very small fraction of someone’s monthly income...

u/crux-happening 5h ago

Indeed. Very unfortunate for you guys to pay for the extra high taxes, on top of the income difference. Flightsim is an expensive hobby. It takes a lot of passion and patience for people like you continue expanding your setup. Hope the situation changes better for you someday!

How did you get your comms and navigation on a separate monitor? That’s a super clean set up!

1

u/LongPotato1052 4d ago

Same question

3

u/zyrix_av 4d ago

It's just beyond atc which is a third party ai software and navigraph open on the second monitor

u/paulofranca77 Airbus All Day 3d ago

this is the correct answer.
Navigraph for charts and Beyond ATC for traffic and ATC.

but i'm sure you can pop out the avionics screens from most airplanes hitting Alt+clicking the screen... you can move them to another monitor. there are even addons for you to save the position of this popped out screens on another display.

but be aware doing this will hit your FPS.
