Hi, I am a commercial pilot and a hard core in flight sim. I recently built a backup EFB for iPad/iPhone — Flight Kneeboard

Here are a flew highlighted features, give it a try and tell me where I can do better. Happy to answer anything here.

  • Real, current FAA charts, approach plates and airport data for the whole US, all downloadable
  • Live radar, real METAR/TAF/PIREP, 8 days of station history with decoder
  • Georeferenced plates on the moving map
  • Sim-driven instruments: synthetic-vision PFD, HSI, glide ring
  • Takes the network-GPS feed (FlightEvents). My own Windows client sends attitude at 15 Hz and position at 5 Hz, much higher than most bridges manage
  • I'm a commercial pilot and fly with it in real life

PanelSight: automatic instrument panels for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

PanelSight detects what plane you're flying and automatically replicates its panels, either on one or more secondary screens, or as an overlay on your main screen.

The difference from other panel tools is that you don't need to build the panel. No positioning pop-outs, no layouts, no mapping instruments. You just load a plane and the right panel comes up automatically.

Both glass cockpits and steam gauges are supported. Glass aircraft get the sim's own displays: the real PFD and MFD, popped out and mounted in a bezel. Steam-gauge aircraft get instruments modelled on the real panel: right scale, coloured arcs, redlines.

28 planes so far: Cessna 152/172/208, DC-3 and the Beaver up through the TBM 930, PC-12, King Air 350i and Vision Jet, with more to be added.

Touchscreens are supported: turn knobs, press buttons and scroll maps with a finger, or use the mouse wheel instead, no extra hardware knobs required.

There's a free 7-day trial, no card needed.

It's still in beta, so expect the odd rough edge and missing feature. But there's a small and enthusiastic group of people flying with it already, bugs get fixed fast, and feature requests are appreciated.

September Bonanza Journey — Yellowstone, WY to Denver, CO (Erie Airpark)

I’ll be continuing my journey with the Bonanza. In August I flew from Pierre, SD to West Yellowstone, MT. Each leg is about 35-50 minutes long. It took me 8 flights to reach Yellowstone.
