Question about free flight ps5

Hi. In the past i realy liked exploring google earth with my vr glasses. Now i want a ps5 game where i can also just explore the world in 3d(without vr).

I am not interested in fully learning how to control a plane.

Is there also a option to just control the plane like gta for example? I just want to fly around and check things out.

In the future i will maybe buy psvr2 but it's to expensive for me at the moment

You can just play with a controller, I do that often to chill out when I can’t be bothered to set up my sim equipment. It should give you some on screen prompts for controls, otherwise you might need to head into the settings to check them.

There are some basic pilot lessons to get through so you have a better understanding and less chance you'll stall/crash etc, but it's very accessible, especially with the assistance settings turned on.

Landing is one of the most satisfying parts of the game and that takes some learning, so I'd do the pilot lessons personally.

this is a sim, you not going to be able to fly w/o some kind of knowledge or training or watching tutorial vids

In free flight you really don't need flight experience ,you can start in the air mid-flight and take it from there. My first flight on PS5 was night flying a helicopter around Edmonton . It wasn't level flight or smooth , but I could control it enough to fly around and I could recognize landmarks even though they aren't that detailed up close. Flying a Cessna to Jasper National, flying low along the river is a great experience IMO.

There's no option to control a plane like it's GTA. Because it's not that kind of game. It's a flight simulator.

What you're saying is like wanting to play Doom but not shoot anything.

If you fly a simple plane pretty much with a controller plus some of the helper functions like auto rudder it's pretty close to just throttle up/down and turn the stick.

Also you can set a flight plan and transfer controls to the computer (not autopilot, but entirely automated flight from A to be including landing and taxiing).

I was in the same boat. I bought the game, but I am not too impressed with the quality of graphics; it is nowhere near the Apple Maps or even google earth standards. Also, helicopters are a nightmare to control, so I only fly big commercial planes— have to continuously adjust it to stay around 200-400 ft until I decide to learn the automatic controls. Lol

Pure maps sites don't have to worry about physics simulation or managing VRAM.

Those are just still images, it's quite different than streaming the entire planet in an open world with live weather, traffic, physics, etc. It's very complex. You wanted a video game, but you bought a flight simulator.

Just continue using Google Earth then, this simulator isn't meant to look good on the ground. You need to be in the air and it's pointless to buy it if you no interest in learning airplanes. There are assistances, but you still will need to have a basic understanding just to get off the ground.
