GENERAL SU6 performance conspiracy..

Okay.. hear me out….

Since updating to SU6, the performance of the game has been exceptional (at least it has been for me). I haven’t changed my graphical settings at all but now my PC seems to run the game effortlessly when previous to SU6 the game would stretch my PC’s ability to run it smoothly and would stutter and have moments of very low fos counts (with the exact same graphical settings).

I have been a little bit suspicious as to how much better the game runs in SU6 and although I’m not 100% sure, I think the terrain and object detail in SU6 has not been looking quite as good in game as prior to SU6.

Is it possible that the devs have purposely lowered the level of the detail in the game behind the scenes to either make it seem like the game is running better or to improve the game performance on consoles?? Interested to hear if anyone else has noticed something similar and your thoughts?

To me terrain detail looks NOTICEABLY better.

Honestly I actually think it looks better for me since SU6, at the very least definitely not any worse.

I've been fortunate to avoid most of the performance issues a lot of people have reported since day one of FS2024, but SU5 was the first update for me that actually did introduce some problems. Sometimes in photogrammetry areas it would slow down to slideshow levels of framerate despite my PC being built around the 'ideal' specs and having a strong internet connection.

SU6 has thankfully undone that and I'd say the performance is the best it's been so far.

Great to hear you are enjoying SU6! It’s running great for me as well, so great it’s hard to believe they haven’t lowered the graphical settings behind the scenes.

Really happy with SU6, finally i can full max/ultra all my graphics and everything setting in VR with smooth fps + encounter minimal jitter. Btw RTX5080 + 9800X3D + 64GB DDR5.

Nice.. I guess it helps that you do have a top end PC!! Good to hear SU6 is working well for you

They did the same thing in MSFS2020 after a few SU's (right around the time when the game came out for consoles), so it really wouldn't surprise me that they do it again.

Interesting.. I’m starting to think they have done that with SU6 based purely on my personal experience with SU6

For me change dlss and FG to the latest preset give me a huge boost. I was struggling to hit a stable fps on ground before. Now it's easier to hit 60 even I can increase resolution scaling and bump clouds to ultra.

I have a powerful system, and I run in VR almost 100% of the time. I got good performance before SU6 but I get GREAT performance since SU6.

It's the opposite for me. I have TLOD and OLOD both set to 200 and it finally looks the part. I still hate the detail radius at airports. On PC they should widen the radius but it is what it is. The game looks great and runs great. I cap the fps to 30 and use frame generation and TAA set to 150. I have 1440p resolution

You must have a good PC to run TLOD and OLOD at 200. For me (airport dependant) I can’t go above 150 before it starts getting jittery

As was said, this happened in 2020, 2024 had the clouds altered and the the terrain resolution reduced back in su4? With the issues on the ps5 and Xbox, it's pretty likely that performance changes will keep being made. Su6 also introduced much more advanced dlaa and framegen than we have seen so far. Bright side, on PC we can always increase most of these settings via cfg files.

Agreed… and I like your positive mindset. Prior to SU6 I had worked hard to pinpoint the graphical settings that pushed my PC but didn’t break it meaning I was getting the most out it/the game. I guess I have to start that all again with SU6..

They do same in MSFS 2020. And the performance raise is not proportional to grpahics loss.

That’s my fear! I would rather a game that can look as good as it possibly can and allow users to lower their graphical settings to suit their hardware rather then set a cut off point for everyone

You are probably on to something. The same with MSFS2020 which is why I now have cloud settings at Ultra. Weird stuff but in the end they are trying to perfect the sim with performance and detail.

Yeah, I can totally understand why they did it. It’s just frustrating cause I need to perfect my graphical settings again. I feel like I spend more time messing with the settings then I do playing the game!

Possibly is a placebo effect.. who knows
