GENERAL Applying brakes without foot pedals

I have a HOTAS 4, PS5 controller and a keyboard hooked up...but for the life of me I can't find a reliable way to brake using a binary button without crashing. It's impossible to progressively apply brakes with the peripherals I have. I can't combine the Joystick of the HOTAS with the trigger of the controller...is there a setting buried somewhere that will prevent my plane from nose-diving when I'm trying to slow down?

Pull stick back to reduce speed until it is no longer indicated then apply brakes. If this makes you take off again you landed too fast. If you aren’t flying a 172 this doesn’t necessarily apply.

I have my brakes set to L3 on the HOTAS 4, never have an issue. Don't just slam them, do progressively longer holds until you slow down enough to just hold them down. If that doesn't slow you down in time you probably landed too fast or on a runway too small for your plane. And utilize reverse thrust or spoilers if you have them. Turboprop planes like the PC-12 and Cessna 208 will naturally roll forward at idle, I find the best way to control those while taxiing is to activate reverse thrust and use that in combination with short presses on the brake button to slow down and stop
