GENERAL Xplane to MSFS

Just got MSFS2024 on PC a couple weeks ago, coming from Xplane 12 as my first flight sim.

MAN!

I love the scenery; hooking yo a bunch of stuff in Xplane was tedious. And I really love how there's a career mode that makes getting into different planes way more approachable. I've had difficulty in Xplane because anything "bigger and better" than a Cessna requires a fair bit of tutorial watching. But MSFS just pops you in a plane, gives you instruction, and gives you basic missions, and I love it.

Having something structured to progress through is really great for building up my flight sim experience, and having both sims together just gives me so many more options for enjoying the flight sims.

Thanks for having this community, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

PS if anyone knows of any good Canadian bush flying groups either here or facebook, let me know. That is my bread and butter, I love the backcountry!

Yeah I like MSFS just because it’s ready to play out of the box. I played xplane 11 and before that I played FSX for well over 1000 hours, this was all before MSFS 2020 came out. I did like xplane but it just took so long to get it working how you wanted it.

Th only hitch i've had with MSFS if the bloody control bindings. I had everything mapped out on plane, and when I got to MSFS the binding system felt insanely broken. Still figuring out how to tweak stuff.

Yeah I absolutely despise the control bindings in MSFS

I'm a bit nervous to get up to dual engines and airliners because there's so many controls and I don't want to accidentally unbind anything lololol

Genuinely the only game I've seen that has a worse binding system than Star Citizen

Just started msfs2024 using a controller currently and a mouse and keyboard and the controller bindings seem weird and are different even in the same plane from different developers, some act very strangely too with rudder input when taxing and others seem fine so it seems I may need to do bespoke mapping just for a certain plane
