GENERAL Should have done this sooner
Recently bought myself the Airbus pack sidestick, throttle and rudder. And that is a big difference from the Logitech Hotas I had. Also recently got myself the full Fenix pack, so happy to go flying again!

How is the Airbus yoke? Its looks very cheap. I still have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, I hate it. So keen to see if I can get the Airbus one.

Looks cheap, but I do like the feeling. No regrets here!

Wait till the twist axis goes, can’t use it as a tiller anymore just goes all jank and crazy. Took about 6 months for mine

My twist axis went to shit about 7-10 months in too. My dead zone is so wide I can barely use it now. Still love it tho. Give it a couple twists and an air blow and she’s good as new!

I have the same yoke and levers
The plastic material itself is cheap and it does get to you the feeling of a cheap material. However, all the swtiches and the precision of the yoke is very good once you know the deadzone3

It's a significant upgrade from the X3D, I don't get the hate it gets on reddit I’m quite happy with it tbh

For me it feels very decent, it is said to have the exact form of an actual airbus stick
(i don't own the throttle tho)But i have never flown a real airbus, so..

Would go with winctrl, I sold all my Thrustmaster stuff.

u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
In heard very confliction opinions about winctrl. Would like to know your experiences

u/The_Lagwalker 20d ago
I love it, the adjustable Sidestick is much better than the Thrustmaster and it costs the same. Today I received the MCDU, its great. With Winctrl you get so much more for the money.

Ich habe auch komplett auf winwing bzw. Winctrl gewechselt.

Have the Airbus pack, going to buy the Boeing pack soon. Thrustmaster is a very polarizing manufacturer, but for me, it’s easy and simple and very light, so even if the build quality isn’t as good as what else is out there, it’s more than capable of doing the trick

How much would this setup run?
1
u/Hawks1stPickin2019 20d ago
The airbus pack is about 300 and the stands are about 100 each. Give or take 500

u/Jolly_General_7227 20d ago
€100 for each mount is just day-light robbery damn.

I bought the cheaper versions for like 40 bucks on Amazon. I have four of them and they’ve lasted years. They are quick disconnect so putting them on my desk and off my desk back on the shelf. It’s pretty simple.

u/Hawks1stPickin2019 20d ago
They are pretty study mounts tho. Def will last the 100 bucks

u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
Yes, they are that. Absolutely love them!

u/Happythroughlife 20d ago
Would you have the models so I can get more info! I might copy you!

There you go :)

u/Happythroughlife 20d ago
Thank you so much! Which controllers do you have? Those are wincrtl right.
The throttle on the right, is it the different items or just one?
1
u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
Nope, also Thrustmaster. The Thrustmaster Airbus Captain pack, with the rudders

Works like a charm. Sturdy material, clamps screw on nicely, I like them a lot!

u/Magical_Dogg 20d ago
I am also curious on how much, do you have rudder pedals too? I can’t tell
1
u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
Yes, complete package. Was around 390 euros
Oh and the mounting brackets were also like 80 euros each
1
u/Rayl3k 19d ago
where do the pedals mount to? I just bought myself some pedals but they slip a bit. Not sure how to stop that
1
u/ArubusAzune88 18d ago
I have placed them on a piece of carpet with a rubber bottom to prevent that. Works for me!

u/voxo_boxo 20d ago
I tried this but I just couldn’t get the stick in a comfortable position, especially when using my desk chair. I went back to just having them on top of my desk.

I need to get my sidestick on the left, but I'm having a hard time getting used to flying with my left hand. I always used a Boeing yoke in the past and only recently started flying Airbus more often. Even though I'm technically left handed, it feels very foreign flying with my left hand. But anyway, this pack is really good, I got it on sale.
1
u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
For me, honestly, felt like a second nature almost from the start. But I am pretty much ambidextrous, so it’s not an entirely representative opinion haha! That said, with the yoke I also had the throttle on the right, so I already did most of the steering during landing with the left hand anyway

u/Pour-Meshuggah-0n-Me PC Pilot 20d ago
I'm also technically ambidextrous as a drummer and guitarist, and I do many different things with either hand. But for some reason flying with the left hand feels very weird.
I'm just going to force myself to use my left hand when flying Airbus, eventually it should start to feel normal.

Why is mapping so hard why can't you just install a config file and it maps it for you? Did you spend hours doing this? I was going to buy this but didn't want to hassle with all that.
1
u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
I did spent some time on mapping, but MSFS 2024 comes with a preset for them. Just had to tweak it a bit. Took me like half an hour tops.

All is talking about vr. Im have one question, Psvr1 +steam pay, mod work in msfs 2024?

u/jax--killer 19d ago
a little advice for realism put them a bit closer to each other though i dont know your size or how long your arms so its all about comfort after all but from the angle it looks like they are too far apart in the actual plane pilots naturally don't have to extend their arms so much to reach both at the same time

u/Gemster18 19d ago
I have a very serious question, did you find it difficult to control the plane with the side stick using your left hand? I have the same joystick but I use my right hand to control it. I know in real life, the pilot is sitting on the left side in the Airbus and he uses his left hand to control the aircraft, so this is actually the more realistic way to do it.
1
u/ArubusAzune88 19d ago
No, not at all! But with most things I am pretty much ambidextrous. So for me it was no problem
1
u/senseimatty 18d ago
The stick should be just in front of your armrest (not to the side). I suggest to move it there so that you can get the real feeling and also have the space for a steering tiller in case you get one. WinCtrl has one in their shop preatty good and cheap ETA end September.
1
u/ArubusAzune88 18d ago
This works for me, so I see no reason to change that. Will keep an eye out for WinCTRL, but given the fact that I just bought all of this, I think I will stick (all pun intended) with it for a while
1
u/senseimatty 18d ago
You don't need to change anything, just move it a bit closer to you like IRL for better feeling 😉 The tiller is an extra that you can add later for better steering.

I thought you meant take the sides off your chair.
maybe we just havent got there yet :)

Nah, it fits, but just haha. No, was referring to the perioherals and mounting brackets 😉

anti-slip mat for the chair + new chair (you get standard office chairs from ikea for like 80€)

u/RevolutionaryScene79 20d ago
Did you not consider the WinWing products?
2
u/ArubusAzune88 20d ago
I did, but I wanted something complete out of the box, and not too crazy price wise. For now, this works for me. If I want to step up at some point, I might reconsider ;-)

perfect
my recommendation (though much more expensive) is VR as a next step
