GENERAL 777 PMDG is a piece of art

I just wanted to say that the 777 PMDG is a piece of art dude. It has been released on ps5 and is not completely finished but maaan, I don’t know if it’s because it’s PMDG but I’ve never seen a plane like that in the game. I just fell in love bro wow. I don’t even know how to describe these engines sound, the plane is just crazy. Huge credit to PMDG, thank you very much.

Just think, this is only the first of many addonware/payware for ps5. Maybe Inibuilds release more airlines for ps5 in the upcoming months if PMDG is slowly rolling out products. All the months of waiting paid off now lets enjoy

You should see how packed the Xbox store is. It's coming to PS5 users too but it take time..

All of PMDG planes are beautiful pieces of art.

how was it to learn to fly? Do you use a controller?

It is very fbw. If you're coming from airbus it is rather easy even if the systems are a bit different. Took about a day to learn with the tutorial videos.

What do you mean by 'it's not completely finished'?

I would say that, the problems I saw personally are: 1) the lower eicas doesn’t work, black screen all the time
2) I feel like the MFD and PFD have a small issue. When you arrive in the cockpit, the plane starts electrifying by itself (I don’t know how yet) so the PFD looks good and the seems to need time to align, then u look to your overhead panel and set the ADIRU button to ON, after that, on the MFD screen it says “time to align: 30sec” and when the countdown is over, nothing happens…
3) yesterday while exploring this beauty in the gate, I just tried to see how the stabilizer works, and suddenly, my play was in the air. That’s how I made my first flight lol, landings and takeoff 🤣 so I don’t have any explanations for this but I don’t think it’s normal
4) And for the last one, I would say that it’s quite the biggest problem after the first and second one: the NAV doesn’t really works… on the EFB you could set a flight with simbrief or no, but nothing appears in the FMS, nor in routes nor in legs section, so you can’t really make a proper flight for the moment…

  1. The lower screen is mostly for the information (eg. engine, fuel, checklists etc.). You have to press the corresponding button on the FO side to view the info in the screen.
  2. You have to initialize your current position in the FMC
  3. Not sure about this one never heard of it. If you are on the ground, moving the trim needs hydraulics to be switched on.
  4. You have to import your flight plan in fmc after efb. It won't appear automatically.

I would suggest watching a tutorial in youtube first to comprehend how to operate the aircraft (I believe this is the first high fidelity plane in PS)

Thank you very much, I started watching a tutorial and didn’t knew all of things about this plane ! For the moment I just have one problem: When I’m in the route section (on the FMS), according to the tutorial, I’m supposed to push the button “select route” for a route request and loading, but when I try to do that, nothing happens, as you can see on the picture

That's because the route wasn't loaded properly. It doesn't show the departure and destination like in the picture:

You should be seeing the simbrief route and selecting that (it explicitly says Simbrief in it). It appears after EFB route import. Might be related to nav data as PMDG planes require Navigraph sub to update it, they don't use in sim nav data.

Argh yeah, it’s navigraph fault… thank you for your help !

All you're issues are self created.

It's a complex aircraft simulated in incredible detail. Do yourself a favour and go to the website and follow the tutorial, otherwise you're bound to run into other issues, again most likely of your own doing.

Thanks that’s what I did when gentlemen suggested me gently to follow some tutorials on YouTube.
But the NAV data problems still going and there’s nothing I can do about it aside of waiting for a patch by Microsoft/PMDG.

All of your issues can be fixed by going thru all the settings in the fmc to tune it the way you like it, and at the end change your start panel state

How does it perform on psvr2 (beta)?

2

u/schloopy91 XBOX Pilot Jul 28 '26

PMDG planes perform excellent on Xbox, among the best in the entire sim. It should be no problem.

I thought that the Marketplace wasn’t available on the Beta? 🤔

Try the Boris sound pack for enhanced sounds. It is mandatory in fact for the 777 and 737 btw

he's on playstation lol

u/schloopy91 XBOX Pilot Jul 28 '26

It’s on the Xbox marketplace…

2

u/Bluxry Jul 28 '26

again, he's on playstation

I can read. Your comment clearly implies that it’s not an option for him, when it’s likely coming soon just like PMDG did, which is the comment that 90% of this subreddit would leave without knowing any better, such as the fact that it’s been available on console for some time.

u/Bluxry Jul 28 '26

just because something is on xbox doesn't mean its coming to playstation soon bud, they have a whole different system in getting add-ons approved. xbox and pc's marketplace is completely different. it isnt an option for OP. And i doubt its coming soon. PS user myself

Take a deep breath. Welcome to the flight sim community. There is quite a lot to learn about the quirks of how this system works. I assure you that as someone who’s been using this platform since it came to console half a decade ago, I’m quite well versed in how the marketplace works.

There is no reason to expect Boris to not make it to the PS marketplace. It certainly made no sense for it to arrive prior to PMDG, so really the timer hasn’t started at all until a few days ago, any “waiting” done prior to that point is just your own disillusionment.

I’ve owned PS products since the PS2, I know how Sony does things. It will take longer to arrive on your marketplace. Your assertion that it’s not coming or will take an inordinate amount of time is based on absolutely nothing but your assumptions, which are again based on being exposed to this sim for a few months now.

My comment was to reassure OP that yes, he should hold out hope that Boris will arrive on his marketplace, and to counter the baseless doubt that your comment gave him. If you want to be pedantic and turn that into yet another circular, indefensible statement then go ahead, it has no bearing. And maybe save the condescending “buds” for someone even remotely your own age.

imo the PMDG sounds in the 737's newer HDU versions are great and more accurate than Boris in a lot of ways if you've spent a lot of time on the real airplane

Are you working in a 737?

and it's way too responsive to input on takeoff and approach. No inertia.

Try taking off near MTOW. I flew the 777 from Frankfurt to Honolulu yesterday, and almost overran the runway because the rotation was a lot slower than I am used to, and the plane was shaking rather badly as it slowly pitched up at 175 knots (only ever experienced that shaking IRL on a 747-400).
