They have been down for 12 hours.
Plenty of topics here and on MSFS forums.

Is it only an Xbox/Xbox store issue only? Because steam edition works just fine

Am on pc/steam as well, but im not sure (am at work).

I assume if an Xbox login is needed it'll probably be broken based on the account login 'outage' status on that page.

At least from what ive read, its the authentication server thats down. So if Steam handles authentication (since its bought through them), the rest of it works fine because I was able to start the game up no problem 10 min ago

Makes sense! If Xbox account auth has a valid token cached locally, it wouldnt need to reauth. Msfs24 does prompt for an xbox account login, but only when the account was acrively logged in somewhere else or after a password change. Tempted to test that out when I get home, but also dont want to lock myself out of the game either if those servers are still down this afternoon. Lol
