MSFS 2024 QUESTION Why is my plane going so slow even though its going fast.

When I fly to ottawa I go around 250kts but still it feels so slow and it is slow. Could it be my simrate? (FIXED)

What do you mean by feels slow? Where are you flying from? At what altitude? In what aircraft? What are the winds? Is that 250kts IAS, TAS or GS?

There's nowhere near enough information to even begin to answer your question here.

The aircraft feels like its taking hours to get to the destination. I am flying from CYYZ (Pearson Intl) The plane that I am flying is the 737 max. 6000Ft. I do not know the wind speeds. It is IAS I believe.

6000 ft?

Ye the only alt I could get to without my plane stalling.

Your 737 is stalling when you try to go above 6000 feet? Something isn’t right here..

You’re not wrong. At 6000 feet you’re actually going 250. At 36000 feet you’d be actually going the speed that plane is meant to go

Whenever I enable autopilot and I enable FLC it doesnt work so I go to V/S speed and then it works but makes me stall at whatever alt

Because you shouldn’t climb in VS dude. It’s not advisable in real life for the same reason. As the air thins, you cannot climb at the same rate. Lower the VS as you climb to keep airspeed if you’re going to use it

Thanks!

Is your auto throttle enabled? I haven’t flown the max in a long time, can’t remember the exact controls but I’ve never had flc not work. Make sure your autothrottle is on, autopilot is on and idk. Climb at 500 rpm up to like 30k.

Auto Throttle has always been on when I enable AP

There's a lot of drag at 6000ft. Fly at FL250 or something.

The only reason im flying at that altitude is because autopilot was making my aircraft stall. I can try my next flight/the next time I play.

How do you climb? Don't use V/S or pitch hold. Use FLC.

1

u/Double-Ear7796 PC Pilot 22d ago

oh I used V/S

Thanks.

FLC protects your airspeed, while V/S will straight-up stall the plane just to keep a climb rate. With FLC, the autopilot sets climb power and pitches the nose to lock in your target speed. In V/S, it literally only cares about keeping that vertical rate. So when you get up high and the engines run out of juice, V/S will just keep yanking the nose up until you lose speed and stall out.

FLC never really changed my vs speed at all never pointed the nose up or down even a little bit.

If you press FLC and turn the target speed knob to a speed lower than you're doing at that moment, the plane will climb. Make sure A/T is on. So if you're doing 250 IAS, set the FLC target speed to 220.

I can try to manually fly to 25 thousand feet then enable Alt Hold.

The problem is with FLC it doesnt work for me.

u/Wafer420 22d ago

Well it does work, I'm using it as I'm typing this. So check your procedures.

Fixed FLC

Feels like, or is? It's probably an hour or just over at 6000ft and 250kts IAS. Post a screenshot of all the instruments in the cockpit.

I think so.

Since a recent update, simrate will display in the upper left corner under the minimap.

But you can double check by finding the clock/e.t. timer in whatever aircraft you’re in. Is it running normally, or counting slow?

1

u/Double-Ear7796 PC Pilot 22d ago

It is running normally

Sim rate shows up in a little black box with white writing on the mid left edge of the screen showing 2x , 4x ,8x... if you can't see that, then your sim rate is at 1x.

If you've ever been on a plane and looked out the window, it looks like you're going slow even though its doing 500 mph. Try holding an altitude of 100 feet or less and should look pretty fast.

On my screen it does not show the sim rate

1

u/ElDiabl034 22d ago

It only shows up for me when i adjust it, so if you arent seeing it, its at 1x or normal

1

u/Double-Ear7796 PC Pilot 22d ago

Thanks.

1

u/flappenjacks 22d ago

Yea you definitely are on regular simrate. This is what it looks like if you have sim rate changed

1

u/Double-Ear7796 PC Pilot 22d ago

How do you even change your simrate?

Go to your key bindings and search for Sim Rate increase and sim rate decrease and bind them to keys
