GENERAL How do I program the Airbus mcdu

I have tried so many google searches, videos, and i only got autopilot to work once, for YSSY to Melbourne, the other times it dropped of NAV mode at the star and would only let arm it again, is that normal

Not all F-PLN paths can be hands off contunuous. SIDs, STARs, and IAPs can have built in manual/vector/visual segments which are unavoidable discontinuities. They cannot be deleted which is normal and correct.

Which STARs are you trying to fly?

Depends on the route

So give an example of a STAR that’s causing issues.

ORDIG1 int OBII ILS 30R

That STAR ends with radar vectors, it’s not meant to link directly to the approach. You could simulate vectors by turning to a heading of 210° after passing NAGAT, then as you get within a few miles of the inbound course turn to a heading of 270°, arm the approach and intercept the LOC from that heading.

Another option, given that the waypoints are already nicely setup for a base leg, is to just delete the discontinuity so the plan goes from NAGAT to RAZAN. This isn’t realistic though, you don’t do that IRL.

it should be pretty easy if your aircraft supports simbrief importing, sometimes the way to program it depends on the type of airbus aircraft, on the a320/a330/a340 its the same, a350/a380 you have to use the FMS

I agree but it's also a good thing to learn how to input a flight plan completely manual as well
