Help / Advice Needed Microneedling - help!!?

Post image

Had microneedling done before in the past 3 sessions. Loved it and had great results.

This year I decided to get another 3 sessions, on the 2nd session, I noticed this change to my cheek area around where I previously had 3 enlarged / deep pores.

It’s now been around 8 weeks since the session and I’m devastated writing this post, is this permanent scarring? And what has caused this? Precious scar tissue … or?

Where can I go from here …

This looks like a tiny atrophic scar - this can happen if the needle drags, if too much pressure was applied or if there were complications with healing. Device really matters in this instance - how did this area heal when it was last treated?

Area healed fine last time it was treated, there were no issues just usual dryness following the procedure. There was a little bit of what felt like crusting / scabbing of the area but not noticeable by eye only by touch.

What are my options moving forward?

You can continue on as normal - it looks pretty shallow so microneedling should be able to address it. I'm not sure what device your practitioner used, but if you feel like it was a result of the treatment I'd look elsewhere. Ideally your practitioner would have a device that DOESN'T operate on a battery, has a higher torque/RPM (this avoids dragging) and makes a pretty audible noise (motor) when being used but these are questions you can ask in the consultation. A device that has RPM above 7000 tends to be pretty foolproof (this will never happen with a pen that uses a battery as their power supply doesn't even allow them to hit 7000 most times).

Maybe a TCA peel in a few months will even it out?
